How big is James Johnson this year?

I think he has been a tremendous part of our offensive sucess this year. He has stepped up with 25 receptions for 360 yards. Plus, the long balls against VT and Miami were huge momentum plays.

How good do you think he can be?

James is the type of guy you want on your team. He's made better by that guy we have with the same last name. But Johnson has stepped up as a very realistic threat and deserves a lot of credit for the success of the offesne when opponents take away Calvin.

I think he is a huge positive this year.

There are certainly a lot of players who have helped us get to where we are but he is one of those players that silently does a great job. Doesn't get nearly the hype as others but without him I think Calvin even gets more coverage. He certainly benefits from Calvin but you have to have another option keep defenses honest. Of course he is more than just a decoy. His plays have helped us win some games.

He will be a solid featured WR if Calvin leaves after this year.

I'll keep the first half of that sentence and ignore the rest. I do look forward to seeing what he can do with a few more passes per game. He has made some amazing grabs.

The clemson-off the helmet catch was spectacular.

And, he almost pulled off another against Miami that I think Meriweather broke up in the endzone.

My father-in-law was in an Orlando Beef O'Brady's last night watching the game. Next to him was a nice woman wearing a #89 jersey . . . it was James' mom and his stepdad. They ended up watching the whole game together and talking about the team and the mom's. (My wife also went to West Orange High School so they talked about that some too.)

At any rate, Mrs. James Johnson is very good friends with Mrs. Calvin Johnson and she says that Calvin's mom is VEHEMENTLY opposed to Calvin going pro before he finishes college. It's to the point that she has forbidden him from doing it as a matter of fact and tells the agents they should call back next year.

I disagree with her stance on it, but it might not be such a done deal that he leaves a year early. Although when somebody explains what top 3 picks get paid she might change her mind.

I think I love Calvin's mom.
