And how good is Tech? Is F$U as dominating as they appear? What has changed from the past two years? I know their recruiting has not been up to their typical standards and their coaching staff has not changed much if at all over the past couple of years. So what gives? Could it be that Maryland just does not match up well with the Seminoles and their slow start could be something Ralph will have to look at in the future to avoid happening yearly. Or for some reason they just plain suck this year? Could North Carolina also just plain suck?! I hope so...which could mean in theory at least that the Seminoles are not quite as good as advertised. They certainly in my opinion have not been whacked upside the mouth yet. Eric Henderson and friends should take care of that. What about Tech? Did they overachieve against Auburn? Nothing about the defensive effort surprised me last week. But the offense Chris Rix and Co. will bring will be better than Auburns but its my hope their scheme will not be as hard to defend as BYU's. Reggie Ball and his bunch have not up to date did any overachieving so I don't expect a letdown saturday night. More production from them is key as well as keeping mistakes to a minimum. I could be off a little but the personnel of this years Seminoles and last years have few changes with the biggest one at quarterback. Attitude may have picked up though. All in all if the coaching from Chan Gailey and Jon Tenuta and staff is up to last weeks sterling effort then I expect a very hardnosed and physical football game. A lot of motivation is on our side with the Floridians we have going for us. I hope the Kenny Scotts and Reshaun Grants rise up and provide us with some big plays that I know they are capable of. It could be a memorable night....Good Luck Saturday Night...Go Jackets!

I watched enough of the UNC and Md. games to say that they are for real. They look like the old FSU. UNC also looked weak. I would not be suprised to see them at the bottom of the ACC this year.

However, we can beat them. That's why they play the game. It will definitely be the toughest game we play this year, though. If we win Sat. or even come really close, then this team will wind up suprising everyone but themselves this year.

Our speed on D is bigtime legit, so if they paste us with 3 TDs and a FG or two in the first half, you will know they really are good. If most of their scores come late in 3rd and 4th, then it's likely the depth issue and/or lack of adjustments.

I'd pay a lot to see 60 minutes of each team's top 30 go at it. IMO, it would be closer than most think. THWG

Mystique always plays a part in the games against powerhouses. Part of FSU's winning was their confidence and swagger, along with some of the best athletes in the land.

They still have excellent athletes, but have lost some recruits to Florida, Miami, NCSU, GT, and other teams in the ACC over the past few years.

Since Amato and Richt have left, they have slipped a little. Also, Bowden is aging and can not be expected to react as quickly as yesteryears. However, he might have taken the play calling back from his son to an extent.

They have lost a little confidence and swagger over the past couple of years, they are without Amato and Richt, and may have a slightly less edge in athletes as in the past. They may have gained a little of the confidence back in their win over Maryland and no touchdowns allowed in two games.

After saying all of this, they are not as strong as in the past and don't have quite the confidence as in the past, but they are still an excellent team.

I think we have about the same chance of beating them this year as last year, except the breaks will have to go our way. With some good breaks, relatively error free game, and a little improvement over last week in short pass defense, we could win. It will be a major upset, but it can be done.

I have my fingers and toes crossed.

I disagree with you Ahso... It will be much more difficult this Year..Because of Flunkgate and the 10 players we lost..Bowden even said this..their Depth should wear us down....I hope im wrong...I pick us 17-16 in an upset.. IMHO..It will have to be a low scoring game for us to have a chance... But you are right in the fact it would be a Major upset....when people say that FSUs recruiting has been down the last 2 years i laugh...Instead of having top 2 classes which they usually have..by most services they were ranked no lower than 15 and by some in the top 10...Bowden said they have as much talent this year as in the Old days....

I agree with GoldZ.... I think if TECH plays a lot of 3-out series both ways, gets the game into the 4th quarter low score, they have a shot to win.

BlackWatch, I respect your opinion, but depth does not always win the games, and the games do not always follow the script.

It is the flow of the game and the breaks that determine a lot of games. If we get some early breaks and keep FSU in a hole, we could win despite their depth.

If they get some early breaks and put us in a hole, it could be a long day.

Your right..Though more often than not VS. Fsu it has killed us in the 4th Quarter..With us being so depleted this year it COULD wear us down by the 3rd Quarter...

I do believe your right in the fact we MUST NOT let FSU get up on us early or it will be a Loooong night...IMHO..We need a very low scoring game to win...In watching the Espn classic game now..Our undoing against the Noles has also not been helped by our past Porous Defense's..Tenuta may make difference..He did a good job last year in the FSU Game and as most of last season Our QB play killed us last year...

I agree with Tenuta making a difference.

The thing is - a lot of QBs have a bad day against FSU - I'd say that typically against FSU, you have 1-2 seconds less to throw and it definitely affects the QB play. Plus the "through the whistle" hits take its toll after a while.

That one FSU game where Joe played incredibly, he was getting passes off really quick. I think that might be why Spurrier did so many timing patterns against them - these passes were REAL effective - the deep timing pattern. Gets the ball off quickly, thus offsetting their rush AND gets their secondary on their heels. Same thing NCSU did the last 2 years.

I think we will relive BYU again only in spades. We will sputter on Off and the DEf will hold for a while but without a real run game our OFF will stop and the D will be on the field too long. That's the most likely happening.
OR- unlikely but possible we get turnovers and they have KEY penalties and we hang around til late and win.
OR-we die quickly with turnovers or runbacks, etc and they are up 25 in 1st half and cruise from there.

AlaGold, I think you summed up the the most probably scenarios for the game. I think you will be correct on one of the three.
Along with your overall summation, I add my greatest concerns:
1. Rix to have a super day; especially scrambling

2. Their monster running back will go 135yds.

3. Dockett will blossom (ques. is he still on the team? playing well to this point? Suspended?)

4. Boulware.

Our hopes: "bounce of the ball", "breaks", "no injuries", a game plan and execution equal to last week, our players playing up to thier same capabilities, plus, sligtly better passing game, and kicking game.

I agree with both of you....Im optomistic though for the future...Young Reggie and Company will grow up and GT has a very bright future!!!!
