How many pure pro-style offenses in college football can you name that have been consistently successful since 2000?

UGA and VT most definitely fit. I'm more curious how he's defining "consistently successful."

It's hard to find any offense that's "consistently successful" 8 years running.

USC and UGA came to mind immediately. If you have the personnel to run it, namely an accurate QB, pro-style offenses are devastating.

Ohio State? Weren't they running a spread with whats his name QB a few years back?

Geeze. I should have known that beej would ask the key question.

What is "consistently successful?"
Well, I would define consistently successful as consistently at or near the top of their conference, and ranked nationally, MOST years over that span. Any team can have a bad year or two, even Green Bay under Favre.

Why 8 years?
Because that would require two QB transitions for most programs. We all know that a pro-style O is heavily dependent on the QB (well, all maybe except Gailey).

My thesis?
Less than 10% of colleges are consistently successful running a pro-style offense.

I'm trying to get a sampling from you all as to where to start my research. What teams do you all see as candidates for those criteria.

Troy Smith may have been athletic with a rocket arm...but Tressel never runs a spread attack.

Ohio State let Smith do more athletic things out of the pro-style offense...but at the end of the day the formation was pro-style.

Heck...spreading out those massive OSU offensive lineman may cause them to go into cardiac arrest!
