How mobile is Eason?

So I am wondering if the fact that Eason is a statue in the pocket will benefit our defense on Saturday. Certainly, I think we have played our better games against the traditional pocket passing QBs.

We've played 3 teams this season who have gotten negative rushing yardage out of the QB position: Vandy, Miami, and UVA. We obviously played Vandy and UVA well, and I would contend that we even played well defensively against Miami. We essentially gave them 14 points from fumbles at the 10 yard line, and we held them to a single TD in the second half. Kayaa had 0 rushing attempts in that game, but of course we also had a big fat 0 sacks.

Eason has a net negative rushing yardage total for the season, and his longest run is 12 yards I believe. I think this sets up well for us to get pressure up on him without having to worry as much about outside contain, allowing us to play a little better coverage on the short yardage passes.

So, will Eason get flushed out of the pocket a lot on us, or will he stand in and chunk the ball around all day?

Keep his pocket time to less than 3.5 secs and we are good. Not too worried about roll outs or bootlegs.

The challenge is clear - turn up the heat. If he has time to throw...

As a footnote, the more we can force them to abandon the run, the better.

He might have been a statue all season but we all know he's going to look like Michael Vick when we blitz. It's just what big slow white QBs do to our defense.

4 of the QBs we've played this year have 0 or fewer net yards rushing against us. Watson had 36 yards on 12 attempts. Here's a breakdown:

BC - 9 for 31 yards
Vandy - 2 for -4
Clem - 12 for 36
Miami - 0 for 0
Pitt - 4 for -7
Duke - 10 for 73
UNC - 6 for 44
VT - 18 for 75
UVA - 5 for -9

Didn't bother to include the patsies. So which one of these guys looked like Vick against us? I would say that Duke and VT had the best games against us with the QB running the ball, and we won both games.

Got a stat on how many of those runs were on 3rd down and converted? Gotta think that % is pretty high.

He'll be pretty mobile when he rides one of these out of Sanford.

Ever since they replaced the wheels with cinderblocks on his house, his mobile home hasn't really gone anywhere.

I'm mostly worried about him being able to get short TE passes off all day long.

Let's look at a few games:

UNC 3rd Downs

3-2 GT22 - Pass Comp for first down
3-12 GT20 - Pass Inc
3-10 N49 - Pass Comp for 3 yards
3-7 N44 - Pass Complete for first down
3-12 GT47 - Pass Complete for 11 yards
4-1 GT36 - Middle run for 36 yards, TD
3-9 N41 - Pass complete for first down
3-9 GT32 - Pass Inc
3-7 N50 - Pass Complete for first down
3-6 GT40 - Pass Complete for first down
3-5 G28 - Pass Complete for first down

So, zero QB keepers on 3rd down. We won the other big QB games so who gives a öööö?

I'm sticking with my suggestion in another thread:

First pass play of the game for the ööööing dwags, have some Jacket dive at this ööööer's knees or late-hit the öööö out of him. Take Eason Christ right the öööö out or at least put the fear of God and an ACL in his stupid mutt mind.

We need to throw the gauntlet down on the ööööers. Bodyslam a couple of these ööööing dwags early and often.

öööö all mutt players, coaches, fans, and esp. that stupid inbred mascot!

I thought this was going to be one of those "things that are more mobile than Eason" threads.

So, after thinking about it, I'd say we're safe from Eason on the ground as far as scramble yardage is concerned. His side to side speed and throwing on the run hasn't been very impressive. He seems to be able to take free yardage on straight runs if he gets a lane from pass protection, but he's not juking anybody. Georgia is dead last in the state in sacks given up, whatever that means.

Let's be serious, though, there are only two players on that offense that are playing worth a damn right now, and Eason isn't one of them.
