I swear we are our own worst enemy as a fan base perpetuating the same stereotypes that we are trying to debunks “
These were my words to last year, but i really want to assess my quote. After a convo with some fans and hearing former players say things such “I know a 4* who wants go to Tech but _**insert stereotype***”

We all complain about recruiting not being up to par, but how much are we to blame for reinforcing the stereotypes that hurt us and led us to where we are now?

I can't imagine that Tech fans on the whole could possibly be worse than fans of other nearby programs.

So yeah, we aren't the textbook perfect fans but which programs have such fans?

We repeat the same cliches/ stereotype as our fans

HS offense
Cut block every play
Defense practice against this so they don’t want to get cut blocked
We don’t want good players. Only system players
So on and so forth

You just necro-bumped a six year old thread to quote yourself, and now you're starting a new one to again...quote yourself?

Nothing we say on forums matters and is a drop in the bucket compared to more rabid fanbases. We don't send racist letters, leave voicemail death threats, shut down referees' dayjob businesses. You should see what Clemson fans on twitter do to recruits that flip to South Carolina...pretty sure they don't have any problems recruiting.

So no, I don't think our whining on message boards does jackshit. All of the negative recruiting is already taken care of by other schools and even ESPN yesterday.

I'm guilty

I understand but whether we say it or not, the recruiters and fans of the other programs say it more than enough to drive home the point. These things were also true between 2008 and 2014.

I'm a proponent of the method to find causation that eliminates constants and seeks differences. What changed after 2014? There are some things - the answer is in that list.

I thought you were going to say that we are nerds.

I saw a bunch of people yesterday who want their team to do well in sports and are not satisfied with the product on the field.

So we start saying that the offense is awesome, we have the best players in the country, that everyone wants to come to GT, then hope they don't check the scoreboard?

I stayed until the bitter end - through the Horse - because that is what I do to support the team.

What is really sad is the Clemson folks were leaving early in the 4th of a supposed "rivalry" game. Even they couldn't take much more of Clemson beating up on a much lesser opponent.

I agree the Tech fanbase is somewhat responsible for the product on the field. But not because of anything we post on an internet message board, or negative thoughts we express to friends or others. We spread negative vibes with lack of attendance, or insufficient financial support, etc.

I cannot say that our alumni support our programs less than other schools. But it sure feels like a typical Tech grad is more likely to financially support academic programs than other public schools. That comes at the expense of the athletic side comparatively. This doesn't include the hoards of sidewalk fans who support the big programs more so than Tech.

I personally have decided to redirect my Roll Call contributions to AT contributions as long as Bud SJW Peterson is Tech’s president.

LOL... I refuse to take any personal responsibility for the product on the field. Are there better fanbases? Probably. But the truth is, when we have good teams, we generally show up for big games.

I have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we have inferior athletes on our team, not just compared to schools like Clemson or UGA, but now to teams like Pitt and USF. Somebody gets paid millions of dollars a year to be responsible for it. Great coaches produce great teams. Great fans don't.
