how much $$$ does CPJ get for winning ACCcoy?

He doesnt have one for beating GA. He expected to. Chan had a big one for beating them, and that incentive didnt exactly work.

Are you sure? I could swear his contract had the same bonus in it. Sure, he doesn't need a bonus to want to beat them, but giving him one emphasizes its importance. I'm almost positive he gets a bonus for it.

How do you know that?
It was in the AJC, no bonus for beating UGAg. I am not sure about other bonuses though. I would love to see a copy of CPJ's contract though. Have any newspapers done the open records request for it yet?

Does anyone have a copy of the PDF of CPJ's contract that was floating around at the time he was hired?

They had (probably have) it on CoachesHotSeat.com, but that site has turned into a subscription-based site (as if they didn't have enough ads on the page already).

Edit: boozin beat me to the punch

use Freedom of Information Act and you can request it if he is a state employee

I don't think the athletic association qualifies... I tried to look up Gailey's one time on the GA state employee university records... no luck.

while looking for the contract, I did find this:
He declined to say whether he could have made more money at SMU.

"Who knows?" he said. "I'm just happy to be at Georgia Tech.

"I hope this is my last job. The hardest thing you have to do in coaching is that meeting with your team when you tell them you're leaving. I've had to do that twice as a head coach, and I hope I don't ever have to do that again."

CPJ does not have a bonus for beating UGA. Gailey had a bonus that gave $5,000 to all his staff members for beating UGA IIRC.

I'm almost certain that's changed in the past year. I believe the AA is now back to being a part of the Institute (and by extension, a part of the University System of Georgia), instead of being a non-profit corporation headed by the President of Georgia Tech. That may affect the availability of such data.

There has been FOI act case law on point in several states. The AA associated with a public university, even though it may be set up as a private entity, has enough connection to the university, and gets enough benefit from tax payer funded facilities etc. to be subject to FOI laws. The coach may, or may not be a participant in the state retirement program, and may or may not receive a dime of university money, and may or may not be considered a "public" employee, but his contract, salary, benefits, etc are subject to disclosure in response to a proper FOI request. As GT is a public university, the GTAA would be required to respond to an FOI act request regarding the HFC's contract, compensation, etc.

Of course, the FOI act only applies to public (read government) entities. Thus an FOI act request concerning a private school (Wake, Duke, Boston College) would be improper.

To add to JacketIM's points, a year or two ago there was a big fuss when someone tried to obtain Joe Paterno's contract. Penn State was eventually forced to give up the information, and it was revealed just how little Joe Paterno makes for someone of his stature.

Article sub-headline states the contract is > $11M for 7 years. I also note that it listed his age at 50.

Here's hoping three things:
1. He never gives up the passion and becomes a complacent "7-6"er.
2. Tech is indeed the last school he ever coaches for.
3. He retires later in life than Joe Pa.

2. He has said he hopes this is his final school as a coach.
3. He has said he doesn't want to be working when he's old.

I hope he retires for georgia tech. I truly believe he will take us to championships in the next few years.
