I couldnt hate GT if I coached anywhere....not enough to be able to look my team and myself in the mirror and believe it when I said it

56Jacket: The grad of UGAg must not become a Jacket.
DRad: If he could be turned, he would be a powerful ally.
56Jacket: Yes. Yes. He would be a great asset. Can it be done?
DRad: He will join us or die.

I know several in my home town that are UGA grads that hate UGA and love Tech. They went to Athens to study something they could not get at Tech, but they HATE UGA anyway.

Keep in mind how stupid the Tide looked trying to find a coach that had touched the Bear at one time.

I shook Dodd's hand in 1977 so of course you would rather have me than Muschamp?

I want the best guy, period.

Maybe you would if you were a head coach and your livelihood depended on it; and the firing of Gailey would indicate that it would, in fact, depend on it.

Yeah, that's the fact that I think people overlook. This is going to be a JOB for someone. They will be able to put every win on their resume. No coach is going to try to lose a game against UGAg just because they went there. They want to win regardless, because every win helps their career out.

As a UGA grad who has followed GT since the beginning of time --my time that is-- I can assure you that there are some of us out here who loathe UGA from an athletics standpoint. I am proud of my degree and the hard work put in to achieve it --but that's where it ends with the University of Georgia for me.

I seriously doubt that Muschamp has the disdain in his heart for UGA that I have --but perhaps he can learn.

Bobby Dodd had fun whipped the crap out of Tennessee.

Did anyone bother to watch the HBO documentary on the Michigan-OSU rivalry?

Granted, Bo didn't play at tOSU, but he coached there, and actually played for Woody before joining him on two different coaching staffs. Didn't seem to be a problem from minute one, as Bo whipped them in his first year and flat turned the program around. I like that model, don't you??

If it is Muschamp, give him a chance to prove how much he hates UGag. If not, give that guy a chance to do the same.

Everyone deserves a chance, but I know for sure he will never hate UGA as much as most of us do. Hopefully he can at least learn to understand how deeply our hate runs, because if he doesn't, it won't bode well for his job security.

These coaches are cold and objective and they know it is a business first and foremost. There is plenty of presedence out there for people associated with one school who coached at another. Examples:

Bo Schembechler coached at tOSU and let Michigan to many successfull years.

Mark Richt is a UM grad and coached many years at FSU.

Ken Notron is a UCLA grad but coaches LB's at USC.

Vince Dooley AU grad coached Ugag.

Pat Dye ugag grad coached AU.

Hell, even Major Applewhite was being tossed around as a darkhorse HC candidate at A&M. I'm pretty sure there are many other examples out there.

Answer: Lots Nate. I have a degree from both schools. I bleed gold and white. I know others with degrees from both schools who feel the same way.

thats great but its a little different when you step foot on the field at sanford stadium and start hitting them in the mouth or vice versa

Muschamp has beaten Georgia in recent memory.

Someone wanna put together a list of his record vs Georgia as a coordinator at LSU and Auburn?

I don't care if the next coach loves UGA, wears bulldog pajamas, and names his son Vince. I only care that the next coach BEATS UGA on gameday.

Wearing bulldog pajamas and naming his son Vince should definitely disqualify someone from being a candidate.

Playing at UGA shouldn't, though, especially when you've got multiple victories over UGA in recent memory as an assistant at several schools.

It ain't pretty:

LSU ('01 LB, '02-'04 DC):
Auburn ('06-'07 DC)

2003: W @LSU 17-10 ...97 rush/314 pass =411 total yards given up
2004: L @UGA 16-45 ...221/209 =430

2006: L @AUB 15-37 ...227/219 =446
2007: L @UGA 20-45 ...237/180 =417

True but that's not the problem.

The problem is if he does NOT beat the gaggers. THEN the second guessing will be deafening.

I agree with Nate. No gaggers. Too many other qualified candidates to hire somebody with a wide-open flank.
