I saw that clip, the caller was so over-the-top that I think he may have been faking it.

The GOLD, JERRY, GOLD! of the clip is the one or two seconds they show the news anchors awkwardly reacting to the call, and right when they're trying to cut him off and move on you can still hear a faint whimper from the caller.
