How southern is Miami Football?

Noticed folks saying that they wanted Miami to win since its southern. Honestly, there is nothing southern about Miami, maybe Cuban, but definitely not southern. On a sidenote, UM's campus sits by water in Coral Gables, which is absolutely beautiful.

Most of the metro areas in Florida aren't southern either. Not Orlando, Tampa, Key West. Maybe Jacksonville or Tallahassee a bit. I'm not counting Gainesville since its a college town.

It's not really southern if you think about it. I'd say FSU and UF are pretty much southern, but not like most SEC and ACC teams. In a post below I complained about the fact that the state of Florida has a football dynasty going, and it's all for a bunch of yankee fans.

Players from Southern states:
GT: 91
Miami: 61
BC: 11

(not including WV, OK, or MD as Southern states)

Half of the 61 are from Miami or a beach city in FL. Again, not really southern. Miami recruits too much nationally to be southern.

there is nothing Southern about it, it is its own entity, heck, I can only imagine what Miami high school football is like, it must be intense. South Georgia, East Texas, Ohio whatever, none it is at that level
