Tech looks to have a pretty solid class this year, so whether coach waffle house can win or not, there is clearly proof that you can recruit to Georgia Tech and I'll give TStan credit for creating a culture where recruiting can succeed. But given the recent loss of Bey Bey combined with the current NIL situation, TStan needs to publicly appeal to the ACC and NCAA to reinstate the 2009 ACC championship in honor of Demaryius Thomas. First off the whole situation, that $300 worth of clothes somehow benefited the play of DT is ludicrous. More importantly, it has been widely reported that the NCAA was harsher on Tech because they felt the AD (no longer with GT) and the coach (no longer with GT) impeded the investigation.

It was unreal what the NCAA did at the time, and given the current situation this is a stain on DT's record that needs to go away. What a better way to honor his life than to have the NCAA reverse course and recognize their punishment of DT was overboard and now they need to honor him. Stansbury, get to work.

You know what, this is actually a really good idea RTB.

I've been real uncomfortable with *some* perspectives on DT's tragic death being "more bad news" -- it's a small percentage, but it's just so incredibly selfish and inappropriate for that to be the reaction. KQ put the news in that context, so did a few people here.

You're absolutely right that the vacating of that title was surrounding the most trivial of all possible infractions by DT, and it was made worse by incompetence in the NCAA and poor handling by the GTAA -- almost entirely by people no longer here. It would be a great thing for DT's legacy to erase that asterisk.

Here, have an upvote.

I have a better idea:

TStan should have the AA put the ACC trophy back out, place DT memorabilia prominently around it, claim the championship in all of our marketing materials and tell the NCAA to go öööö themselves.
This should at least be plan B. And play hard ball with the suits in Indy, let them know we would love for them to do this the right way, but we are doing this with or without them. Trophy out, banner up, all of it.

The 2009 violation that caused the issue wasn't the $300 in clothing, it was DRad's handling of the situation. We should petition to reinstate that win and for the current DRad school to be penalized.
Can we make it a twofer school to be punished?

This is what should have been done by our school President and the ACC commissioner at the time. It just blows my mind the amount of incompetence that exists. The NCAA was nothing bit a group of shake down artists demanding protection money.

One of the greatest sports happenings in my life outside of my teams winning titles (GT/Braves) is watching the NCAA relegated to worthless status. I freaking love it. They let the bowl system dictate our beloved sport for my entire life until recently. They’ve damaged schools like GT and let the real cheaters run wild. And the schools let them. GT should have hung that banner from day 1 and never given an inch. But everyone folds because they are comfortable and they really don’t care. Fans are the only ones who care. Everyone else are paid mercenaries from school Presidents to AD’s to coaches. As long as they can sip their glasses of wine at the next executive conference they could care less.
