Hypothetical Coach Question (Testing the Hate)

Just like the political arguments, too many people try to label everyone in one of two camps. Just like in politics, there are a large number of folks with me right in the middle. The spectrum runs from those hoping for a loss to UGA to get rid of Gailey to those wanting a win but committed to keep Gailey regardless of performance this or any other year.

For now, let's forget about keeping or losing our coach. Assume he is gone of his own volition to lead Miami to another unbeaten season. So GT must find another coach. Under those circumstances, here is the hypothetical that was posed to me:

How would you feel if Mark Richt were named as coach of GT?

My initial reaction was to rebel at the thought of any UGA-tainted infection of GT. But then I began to smile at the thought of how much that would piss off the UGA faithful.

How would you react? (I have checked Revelation and it is not a sign of the apocalypse.)

P.S.
I am hoping for a 58-7 win over UGA that secures Gailey as HC at GT. In my dream, Taylor channels Joe Montana for a 80% completion percentage leading to 35-0 halftime lead. Nesbitt takes over in the second half for mop-up duty and UGA scores one touchdown on the final play against the GT team managers playing defense. That's the dream.

Oh, give me a feakin' break. What possible use is this?

This is what I'll say...if UGA had hired Gailey instead of Richt, their records in the interviening years would not be significantly different.

It is just a diversion to think about where you stand on the coach and the school. Some folks love Richt even though they are GT fans and would love him. Others hate him as a fraud and/or because of his association with UGA.

But, that's okay. What this board REALLY needs is yet another thread to turn into either a Gailey-bashing or Gailey-defending repeat of the same arguments. Your obvious agenda is no more noble and no more objective than the agenda of the founder of Buzzoff. Give ME a break and stop turning every thread into the SAME thread.

This thread is NOT about Gailey's past or possible future performance.

I really can't even fathom Richt as coach here. It would be the same shock as hearing that Howie Mandel or Barbara Mandrell had accepted the job.

On the other hand, for some bizarre reason I can play the game with Vince Dooley.
To that I would have said Hell No, Never. I would rather see us turn Grant Field into a museum.

I guess the same emotion would apply to Richt.

Mark Richt at Georgia Tech? He shouldn't, he couldn't and he wouldn't.

First, Tech players are too sophisticated to go for the kind of motivation tactics MR uses for his UGA players.

Second, after being at FSU and UGA, MR would find it totally impossible to recruit for GA Tech.

Third, we don't have that kind of money for coaching salaries.

Fourth, Tech fans wouldn't stand for MR losing six in a row against UGA.

Fifth, if he were successful at Tech it wouldn't be long before someone easily lured him away with big $.

Tech players too sophisticated? I am assuming sarcasm. If so, well done, but sarcasm doesn't play well in emails or message boards.

We would be very lucky to get someone like rcccchhhhttttt. I would have no opinion about him if he were anywhere else, which he very well could have been. His personality is too bland. I looooooove Spurrier, just to give a gauge on those who I think have a good personality. I also somewhat like Les Miles, although he's a little over the top.

Since rccchhhhtttt's at (u)ga, I have to despise him. However, hypothetically, if he were to come to Tech, I would welcome him because it doesn't seem to me that he has any real loyalty to (u)ga. He just seems to have landed there.

This is the stupidest post I have ever responded to without bashing it. I guess I just had some time to waste while I sat on the crapper.

How do you get sarcasm out of this (unless you are a dog)??

Initial reaction:

"At least he's not coaching Georgia anymore."

My point is that there is NO how NO way Richt will ever even be considered as a coach at GT. Zero. Zippo. It's a silly, utterly useless thought. I hope you or someone somehow gets a nanosecond of distraction from the speculation.

As for my 'agenda' - My speculation was based in a scenario that was a possibility at one time. No way intended as a defense for Gailey, just pointing out in another way the inherent advantages Uga has over GT.

Yeah. I saw Reggie Ball at the opera the other night with Calvin Johnson. Johnson asked to borrow Reggie's program, and Reggie said sure! But Tim Jennings stepped in and intercepted it.

Give me a break.
