I do not know about everyone calling for Gailey's head already. Here is why:

1) I have never seen one position decimated like I have the TB position this year. I truly believe that without the injury to Hollings the WFU game would have been far different...and probably Maryland. He was special...and meant that much to us. Additionally, we all forget that Burns was supposed to be here this year (we already lost Campbell and Godsey as well totaling 80% of our offensive output). Put on top of that losing Ford, Hatch...and now maybe Ace and Clinkscale (who is always banged up). IF THAT WAS NOT BAD ENOUGH...we lose our top pass rusher in Gathers...and then our leading tackler Fox. Teams have to prepare for injuries...I understand that they happen...but I have never witnessed injuries happening to such acute and significant areas in Tech football history.

2) However...I am concerned about lack of adjustments on defense the past two weeks...and concerned by the reluctance to now turn things over to the future on offense since this season seems like it probably will not survive for post season play. It may be a lost cause to anyone offensively because if you look at the way Maryland played us...they had zero concern about our running game and forced a short passing game. My other concern is the lack of the receivers ability to get open as in years past. Additionally, I am not thrilled with special teams play. How do punters and kickers start doing worse anyway?

3) So...all of this being said I think that I still have confidence in Gailey. He is obviously perturbed and fired up on the sidelines...he is a competitor. I think that we may see some position coach changes. However, consistency in the coaching staff is important to the programs success...particuarly at coordinator and HC. To sum it up...it is WAY too early to tell about top jobs and I think all of the speculation about the top jobs is dangerous to our program. Time will tell...particularly in a time where we can compare apples to apples.
