news of the hire of an OC for our football program. Like all here we have seen the 2 resignations, but nothing else. I am still of the opinion that an OC is needed for us to take the next step.

Looks as if recruiting will be about where we have been for the past few years. Not great, but pretty solid. I was talking with Mover the other day and he mentioned that some recruiting service had us in the top 20 for the year. I for one do not believe in all the stars ranking. Many SA's live up to the stars, but every one that does one does not live up to the hype as well.

As for the boys over on the "other" board, I have not gone anywhere!!!! I will not post there unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. If you have something you would like to say to me, do it here. I will not get baited into your negative posts. Life is too short.

GO TECH!!!!!!!!!

Ditto that!!!!!!!!

But the person over that decision appears to be saying......it will be a cold day in h%@* before that happens.

I still hold out hope.

Yes, life is to short. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dead_horse.gif

I think the key is to name an AD as soon as possible so he can demand that CG hire an OC to fill one of the 2 open spots on the staff, before CG screws that opportunity away and does his own hiring. One of the key signs of intelligence is not knowing what you know, but knowing and recognizing what you don't know. CG's stubborness and resistance to change are clear indications that he does not recognize what he does not know.

Why did you put the word 'other' in quotations?

They aren't still looking for your long awaited return over there. Your silence since the bowl game was more than enough satisfaction I think. The AD and OC situation is mostly what is being discussed.

My guess as to why we haven't heard such news, Mover2, is that CG does not intend to hire an OC...has he stated publicly that he will?

And to Bogey's comment that the new AD will require CG to hire an OC: I hope you're right, but my guess is that the new AD will just tell Gailey that he needs to show improvement next year to keep his job...if he even goes THAT far. He'll probably find other ways to pressure the head coach to improve things, but I don't think he would step in right away and tell him HOW to do the job.

All of this is just uneducated guessing on my part, of course. Some of you are probably close enough to the program to know what is actually going on.

Sadly, I think we'll have to wait another year. From the AJC:

"I don't anticipate any other moves," Gailey said Tuesday after announcing the resignations of David Wilson, the recruiting coordinator and special teams coach, and Tommie Robinson, the tight ends coach.

I'll still be keeping hope up though, he could mean a lot of different things with that.

Hopefully, he didn't mean that he is not only not going to hire an OC, but he's not going to replace the two that left, either. If he did mean that, that's sad.

I haven't heard of any other resignations as well. I spoke to a great friend today and he is skeptical about the hiring of an OC. Who knows!

On recruiting, since rankings have a lot to do with the number of recruits signed. I was told that this was a much better class than in the past but will not reflect that due to signing less than 20 when the majority of teams will sign 20 +. Who knows? I sure the hell don't.

Priority one = AD
Priority two = OC

As far as stars go (which you can count for whatever, they're sometimes valid sometimes not, but a decent enough metric for those of us who don't travel the state/country to watch HS football) I think we came out with a 2.75 average, or something like that on the high end. Not bad, nothing to write home about, seems about par for the last few years.

my priorities fwiw (AD position outstanding)

1) Name solid new recruiting coordinator and place more emphasis on the importance of recruiting..and coaches that can do/will do just that.
2) Name solid new special teams coach with proven recruiting track record
3) Prepare a QB to take over for Reggie Ball and be able to play next year when Reggie is having a bad game.
4) Put 15-20 more good lbs. on each OL while improving strength
5) Name solid new TE's coach with proven recruiting track record

From everything that I've seen, no new OC will be named. What I would like to see, if for Gailey to let Nix actually act as the OC. Our 2 minute offense tends to move the ball pretty well and from what I understand Nix runs that himself. Gailey can still keep the brakes on, and he would certainly have a huge hand in the game planning. But if Nix is all he says, he ought to let him loose.

Right on the damn money!!

"... AD as soon as possible...."

Absolutely!! Let's hope that he will be tough on our programs. It seems like "neglect" is DB's motis operandi.
