I don't know what it looked like on TV, but I thought our defense did great

Really gutsy performance. Forced a lot of punts, lot of 3 and outs, didn't give up any silly long runs, didn't really do anything stupid. I was pleased. If we can get that kind of effort from our defense we could win 8 or 9 this year.

And holy shit Clemson's players are huge. I've been to a lot of Clemson games, and this team this year has got to be the biggest team overall that they've ever had, in terms of size and height. They looked like giants out there.

It would have been nice to see the halftime adjustments happen sooner, but in general they just kicked our ass on the line. I didn't get benefit of replay really, but it seemed like we knew who to block, we just couldn't.

I kept on getting pissed at the 10 yard cushions we were giving Clemson's WRs. But in the end, it was our offense that lost tonight.

The D also had really bad luck on the pick two.

Pretty much. Clemson was beating our blocks left and right. Props to the Clemson defense, but I'm pretty disappointed that we couldn't make them pay for their aggressiveness through the passing game.

Sky is falling fire everyone you are blind

I liked when we gave a 10 yard cushion on 3rd and 1 on the first drive

Hard to make them pay when 5 defenders are in the backfield and the QB is running backwards with receivers running routes that take 10 seconds to develop.

A short, reliable passing game would be nice.

Did great on defense ? Watson shredded talks defense for basically 4 quarters

Shredded us for a whopping 3 points after halftime? Lol.

If at 5pm today someone told me the Clemson drive summary for this game would look like this:

TD
Missed FG
TD
Punt
Punt
TD
Punt
Punt
Punt
Punt
FG
Punt
End of Game

I would totally take it. That is really good for a GT defense. 2 points per possession is a fantastic number. 5 of those stops were 4 plays or less.

It won't win you a game when your offense can't crack 200 yards, lol, but that's good work. If our O could have stayed on the field, it would have looked even better.

No offense meant, but you need better expectations. That was not a good defensive performance. Clearly, if I'm assigning blame to one unit, it's the offense, but we gave up too many yards and too many points. Especially early. We don't keep stopping them if they aren't trying to run clock.

Did anyone hold Clemson to 2 points per possession last year?

Clemson scored 40 points in 15 possessions vs Bama last year. They scored half that in one less possession vs us.

Not only did we button them up really well, we did it when the offense was picking clovers.

Defense played great! It was remarkable they didn't give up more points then they did with how much they were on the field.

Agreed. The D made a few plays - the mighty O did nothing.

Well said. I applaud you keeping your jimmies in order, and refraining to give yourself a wedgie before posting from the bathtub like many people here.

Our offense lost the ToP battle mightily, and our D kept giving us chances to be in it against a very good offense.
