I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

sports, football & the GT football team. He seems very knowledgable to me & has some foresight & deeper thinking than many, which really makes me have to think about where he's coming from, what he's pointing out & where he's trying to get to.
BW's just not sold on the coaching staff, yet, & there sure were many others befuddled by the Clem game. I saw the worst coached Special Teams play I've ever seen @ Tech & pointed out that the ST coach had better get his 'rear in gear'. Does that make me anti-coaching staff? I think not.
The previous coaching staff was good & this one may be also, but do we know yet? The players seem to like them, but we turned in a bad game @ Clem & it justifiably brought up some real questions.
We need Beeware's knowledge & intense GT fan loyalty as much or more than we need mine.

GT ACE,

Your temperance is appreciated. I actually believe you are probably in the majority.

Temperance is kinda what makes this place work.

thanks

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

A huge understatement to say that that "Beeware is not sold on the coaching staff". He has never given this staff a chance from day one. He has been bashing this staff and crooning on about "The Seatle Bowl Staff" since last December.

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

i don't understand what great insights and knowledge does beeware present??

everything that he posts can be tracked down to one single thread of thought, which is "unnecessary" coaching change.

offense problems .. "unnecessary" coaching change.
defense problems .. "unnecessary" coaching change.
special teams problems .. "unnecessary" coaching change.
recruiting problems .. "unnecessary" coaching change.

please!

yeah our coaches had a bad game at clemson. yeah the special teams stunk it up. "many of us were befuddled" by that one bad game in a hostile environment with the rain pouring down?

didn't the staff that we lost have bad games?? does anyone remember the previous clemson game??? the Md game?? the UVa game???

no ... by seeing the clemson game and concluding that the special teams coach needs to step it up doesn't make you anti coaching .. but by jumping up and down all the time and whining and crying about the coaching changes that have irreversibly occured does make you anti coaching like beeware is.

the previous coaching staff was good .. and mac did great in the seattle bowl .. but remember one thing .. tyrone willingham was thinking ahead to notre dame when he coached that game.

not taking anything away from the MAGNIFICENT win that tech had against a BCS ranked team post season! that win gave me lot of joy after a season gone horribly wrong. what a great way for godsey and the seniors to go out!

yeah the previous coaching staff was good. the present one may be also .. but do we know yet? you don't .. and i don't ... and we seem to have an open mind about it .. we look at the clemson game and get worried but look at the BYU and UNC game and get reassured (at least i do).

beeware however is convinced that this coaching staff is a significant downgrade!

yes o'leary left us with talent (thank god) and hell, gailey deserves credit to utilize it.

damn .. chan gailey inherits two untested quarterbacks and no running backs. converting a back up safety to a running back (yeah Tony asked him to do that but the coach agreed!). having to use true freshmen when the new found star goes down (get well soon Tony!). losing the Tech all time sacks leader to a kidney ailment (get well soon Greg!). going through all the adversity of losing players .. who quit (don't blame Gailey for that because you and i don't know the facts). loosing manget pregame to a fluke groin pull ..

over all this .. a coach keeps the team believing in itself and comes up with a HUUUUUGE win away from home .. that coach has got to be a good coach.

what beeware is looking for is our season to go wrong ... and then watch for him to jump up and down ...

"buck sucks" blah blah blah
"where is Mac" wah wah wah

that's all the "knowledge" that this guy brings to the table. look for him to rip the staff a good one if we stumble (if we do .. don't think we will). that's when he will go after Braine and Gailey with "intensity". right now .. the only "intensity" he shows is when he tries to defend himself and his continual negative rantings.

Hell NO we don't need his "intensity" or "knowledge" or "loyalty???" (to who?? Mac McWhorter??)

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

FWIW, I sorta miss GO right this minute. The expression that a football team "reflects the personality of its coach" is what I fear for this team. I hope I am wrong, but CG just seems to nice to be a football coach, too laid back. So far, it is just the O that reflects that. The D is much more fired up, so it appears. I just see no passion. Silly me!

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

Wait just a minute....I saw tons more "passion" this past weekend than I ever saw last year under GO'L. Of course UNC beat themselves with mistakes, but I did see a pretty solid GT team.

BTW, will someone go to that place down on Spring street
hitit.gif
and hire someone to rub Manget's groin full time....? WE NEED HIM HEALTHY!!!!

Go Jackets!

Hey Bizzy, were you on the flats when Dodd was here? Talk about laid back and nice, he was called the silver tongued sly fox. Bunting reflects a personality that we can do without.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I'm not insulting him, but did you see the camera shots of him before the game? He actually went around hitting people like he was in a mosh pit or something trying to get the team fired up. Reminded me of "Any Given Sunday" when Pacino went up to Jim Brown and told him, "Don't make faces...just fix it!" I'll give it to him that he gets fired up.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I dont miss GOL one bit !! if the expression you mentioned above is true.. then can we say Watkins expressed it Saturday when he fought for the first down... can we say Ace expressed it when he double clutched the dive into the end zone .. can we say the OL expressed it by playing a superb game... I saw a much different game than you I guess.. because I saw ALOT of passion on Saturday...

And not to take anything away from GOL.. he did a heck of a job for us... but, in my opinion, the change is going to serve us very well.

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

You say we need Beeware's knowledge. How much knowledge does it take to bash our coaching over and over? He talks about recruiting, last I heard recruits don't sign til Feb. He talks about McWorter, funny how no one thought enough of him to offer a offensive coordinator position. He talks about BoB,good coach but Chan has more knowledge on his little finger.Sorry to rant at you but he just spews the same crap without any knowledge of what he's talking about.

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

I guess I don't understand the math

O'Leary = greatest living head coach.

Seattle Bowl Staff = greatest collection of coaching talent to ever be disassembled.

O'Leary + Seattle Bowl Staff = 7-5 (bonus points for the hook and ladder loss to a bad 5-7 UVA team)

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

I think Chan has brought this team together as a team, better than O'leary ever did. The players are very supportive of each other this year.(not to say they weren't last year) But, I think Chan gets fired up for them and is more in their corner than O'leary. You see him patting them on the back as they come in from making a good play ... O'leary usually kept his arms folded and seemed to pose for the tv cameras. I think O'leary was basically a dictator-type coach that had the players playing tight at times. Our players look like they're having more fun as a team this year. I even noticed the difference in the bowl game against Stanford last year--without O'leary hovering over everything, the players seemed to relax and really play flat out on the field. Now that I've said this, I've probably jinxed our players, and they'll go out and lose the rest of the games on the schedule ... just kidding, I hope.

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

Watching the UNC game on TV I saw Gailey more pumped up and vocal than GOL ever was. He was on the field yelling assignments and constantly talking to the team. GOL, while very disciplined and very angry, was never so passionate looking. I can't remember the last time I saw GOL jump up and down and get excited over a great play like Gailey does.

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

Beeware, why is my math wrong?

O'Leary + Seattle Bowl Staff = 7 wins and 5 losses.

Help me out here.

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

GT Crew .. the record was 8-5

Wins:
Syracuse
Citadel
Navy
Duke
NCSt
UNC
Wake
Stanford

Losses:
Clemson
Maryland
Virginia
UGA
FSU

Re: I happen to dig Beeware\'s acumen on

I left out the Bowl because it didn't include O'Leary. The Seattle Bowl staff won it. Their math would be Seattle Bowl Staff = 1-0.

O'Leary may or may not have presided over a Seattle Bowl win. The world will never know. And it is too late tonight to research the difference between the 2001 regular season staff and the Peach Bowl Staff. That is the only other game that has relevance.
