I have a direct (hopefully simple) question on the coaching situation...

Do you trust D-Rad to do the right thing? {No matter what you believe the right thing to be} A simple yes or no will suffice.

I do.

Depends on what you mean by the right thing. With regards to doing the best thing purely for the team's success, no. With regards to doing the best thing for the program overall, including financially, yes.

yes.

AND I HOPE HE FIRES CHAN!!!!!! just kidding. i used to be an FOC but with our season being pretty much over...we'd really need to do something special the rest of the year for me to want him back. this is just how i feel right now but.....anything can happen. we really would need to win out/beat UGA/win bowl and end in top 25 but it's not gonna happen so...is that "hopefully simple" enough?:laugher:

of course.. after all, this is the man who is bringing in big boi to save the daaay!!! Atlanta is sure to love us then.

After Atlanta, then he tackle Chan's issue, I'm sure. :laugher:

Unlike many on this board...

I don't have a man crush on DRad.

He doesn't impress me because frankly I haven't seen much out of him one way or the other. He's done a few good things, but he's screwed the pooch a couple of times (IMHO) also.

I might feel differently if he'd answer the mail. The trendy thing here is to trash Braine...but I sent Braine three e-mails during his tenure and got a reply each time within a few days. I sent DRAd an e-mail after about three months on the job and I'm still waiting.

My honest opinion? It's about 50/50.

Multiple posters on here have send DRad e-mail and gotten responses. Have you tried just e-mailing him again? Maybe he missed it.

Interesting, he replies to almost everyone. I would be interested to see what your email was about then? He doesn't impress you because you haven't seen him do anything? You live in VA right? What exactly could you see from the outside besides just big moves? If anyone has an opinion about this it is me, I have worked around both of them and its like night and day. Braine sent us in the hole tremendously, Dan has been able to bring us out of debt very quickly considering how far down we were. Also what has he done to as you say, screw the pooch?

Re: Unlike many on this board...

I've emailed DRad on a couple of issues and gotten replies almost immediately every time, I think all from his Blackberry. So pardon me if I don't buy your story. Maybe he missed one or maybe you misdirected it. But if he really didn't respond I'd have to wonder what you emailed him.

:werd: I emailed him today and got a reply within 20 minutes.

He either made that story up or the email was off base, just like his post.

Dave Braine was one of the most incompetent overall managers I have ever seen. That said, overall he had a great "big picture" and made some decent personnel moves in the coaching ranks. During his tenure, however, I would be willing to say that the GTAA was a complete joke.

As far as rads being unresponsive and not "in touch"---b.s. I called him right after he got the job. He called me back and talked to me for a few minutes until I was finished(which was quick because I was so shocked and unprepared). That simple gesture there locked me into what type of personality we have working for us. What about the good word? Night and day with Braine.

IMO Drad will do the right thing which is let chan stay on for a year maybe two more until the "perfect" candidate comes along. The simple cost factor of a buyout would/could be crippling but....I certainly don't know as much about this as rads and our trusty insiders(cough cough demjackets) IMO There are still too many issues going both good and bad at this time to make a change(i.e. recruiting, contract, and simply the W/L). There's still some season left to play but right now the negs. outweigh the pos'.

the right thing will be judged ONLY after the fact. If he brings in another coach and we perform better then it was right.

If the program goes down it was wrong. There won't be any of this he gave it 100%. His job is about results.

I will be very surprised if he does anything. But maybe CG will leave on his own. I would like to see Tenuta get a shot at head coach if CG were to leave. We had O'leary and Fridge on the staff when we hired Lewis from the outside. I would like to think that Tenuta has shown enough to get a shot at HC. IMO

As much as I like what Dan is doing overall, he still hasn't made a coaching hire which is why an Athletic Director gers paid the big bucks. It will be interesting to watch how he handles the situation.
