but something that is just as disturbing is what's happening to our fan base at home games.
.
My family and I show up at our west stands seats just before kick-off. We had great seats last year, but got bumped 1 and a 1/2 sections due to East Flight. We sit down and realize that there is a couple of Clemson fans directly in front of us, three Clemson fans to our immediate right, and two just behind us to the right as well. This is supposed to be the heart of the Tech Alumni section I am sitting in. What the F is going on? Before I even get settled in, one of the Clemson fans in front turns around and hollers,"Where are all your Tech fans? Looks like we out number you at your own stadium." Then he asked the most painfull question of all,"What's up with those seats over there? Ain't noone in them." Of course, he was pointing to the lower east stands, Braine's Folly, Braine's Money Grab. It was less than half full at kickoff, and I don't think it ever did get much better. At the beginning of the 2nd half, it was embarrassingly empty well into the 3rd quarter.
.
As a ticket holder for 25 years, it is painful to come to the realization that many, many ticket buyers and our AD don't give a flip about putting Tech fans in these seats. It is a cancer that is growing here at Tech, and Braine and Co. is completely happy to watch the cancer fester and grow. It is a crime when people give their tickets to visiting fans, and it is a crime what Braine has done to the lower east.
.
It is a joke, but only the visiting fans are laughing.

BDG, I could not agree more.

For the second big game in a row, I was surrounded in section 108 with opposing fans. To their credit, they cheered their team and were good fans for Clemson - dressed in orange of course.

The lower center in the east is an outrage.

I also wonder why we are the only team that cannot get the fans to dress in the school colors: gold.

It is really frustrating.

This is disturbing. It sounded like a CU home game over the radio. I used to be able to tell where a team was playing by listening to crowd. But, tonight it was hard to tell.

seats are empty cuz we suck.

fine if we suck but we cant even score. who wants to watch that.

You do not fill the stadium with your own fans by thinking you have done something by beating ncsu last year or only losing to fsu by one point this year. You do it by going out there on the field and kicking a good teams' ass, not just once every 2 or 3 years but at least some every year. You beat ugag &/or fsu 1/2 the time and that is how you build an additional fan base. What is so hard to understand? And when you have the occasional down year like everybody has you do not get blown out. You fight the hell out of everybody you play. That is how you fill the stadium with your own fans.

By the time this era is over we can sit anywhere we want. AJC article is right - we are the happiest 1-3 program in the land. I've never seen people more giddy over a team that actually lost to a mediocre team and couldn't close the deal for the dozenth time vs.FSU. Clemson, Fresno, their all starting to run together and look the same.

Vandy here we come.

Agree completely. Still hate what Braine has done in the east (for your very reasons) . Also hate so-called Tech fans who buy tickets and immediately give them to the enemy. Who am I kidding though, these folks are not Tech fans. They only buy the seats as business write-offs for customers and employees.
