Take care. CFB is dead.
Just the tip?Someone needs to do the tip, too. That one changed the outcome of the game.
You're right, but people will just say it's sour grapes. Honestly, I've watched a lot less football and basketball in recent years between having young kids and being disappointed by how much refs control the outcomes of games. Meanwhile, baseball, tennis, track, swimming, tennis, etc. have figured it out and have nearly no judgement calls any more.I've alluded to this in other threads, but every team that gets into the playoffs earns the conference $4 million. Getting to the second round is another $4 million. The semi-finals and finals are each worth $6 million. If Georgia loses the game against GT, it is very possible that the SEC only gets two teams into the playoffs instead of 3 or 4 (based on what we all knew at the time).
What's harder to believe: a conference with potentially tens of millions of dollars on the line is going to instruct its employees to be objective and fair or that they would be given subtle instructions to make sure the conference has every opportunity to earn more money? No other industry would even consider this sort of arrangement.
SkyNet going active... but then it won't matter anyway. TERMINATOR TIME!!You're right, but people will just say it's sour grapes. Imagine how neat it'll be when an AI can call a BBall game consistently over the course of the entire game. Are hand checks allowed, or not. That could be dialed in by the league and gradually fine-tuned until we get what we want.
Or for football, being able to consistently call a hold, PI, and so forth. Humans are still better, but I don't think it'll be much longer until AI can take over...

I'm sure there's no email from Sankey saying, "make sure those inbred morons win." I'd be surprised if there weren't "referee for success" instructions given verbally.I doubt the SEC would outright instruct referees to cheat, but it’s reasonable to assume the referees would have bias towards “their” team. It’s why FIFA requires the referees to be from neither country when two national teams play.
The obvious solution is to use neutral referees for OOC games.

And those refs know they can be refereeing high school football in 2025 if they don't swing the game.Oh good lord, of course they would instruct the referees to cheat. Millions of dollars on the line.
