Something that would be right up Jamie's alley would be the extent to which opposing coaches negative characterization of CPJ's offense may or may not impact our recruiting ability / strategy.

Recruiting in general is a highly subjective exercise, dealing as it does with the well massaged egos of these star high schoolers, (with each and every one of them probably envisioning themselves future NFL starters) and it seems that we're going to be faced with this obstacle ("You won't be positioning yourself for the NFL in that offense") with almost every relatively high profile kid that comes along.

Further, I'd ask Newberg how he feels that we can counter the perception, at least until Johnson can get some kids into the NFL and be able to provide solid empirical proof, and conclude with asking his observations about any "under the radar" types that might be specially attractive for us.

Here's a situation I ran into. A person who works for my company in the midwest asked me to come to a high school football game to see his son play this past fall. His son is a senior in high school and a DL and was trying hard to get a Div I scholarship.

Their team won 70-0 over a horrid team but it was apparent to me that this kid just wasn't very good. He had been to a Nike camp and had gotten two stars on Rivals and had several videos that his father had put together with some professional help.

When I looked at the videos he looked like the next Mean Joe Green. Because the videos are of the best 1% of the plays for an entire season.

The kid ended up signing with Northern Arizona, I think.

Question: Do you evaluate (rank) high schoolers based off of these videos? If so, how can you really tell how good a kid is when the video is made up of the top 1% of the plays the kid makes?

I believe in the past they ranked the recruits mostly on film. But now they have these gigantic camps sponsered by scout, nike, rivals, underarmour, army, and every school. Their is a lot more information now then their ever was. The video is just a peice of the puzzle when evaluating a recruit.

Thanks for the questions for Jamie. Anybody got anymore?

How did a no talent couch potatoe like yourself convince so many people to pay money to hear what you think about a highschool kid?

That would be pretty funny.
