Up to this point I think he's been severely overhyped. Potential first rounder?!?!? :wow: Why?

I hope he doesnt pull a Quentin Moses and play his way out of the top two rounds.

I hope The Freak makes his presence know today.

He's only really played in one game and he was double teamed.

Pure athleticism and potential. The NFL likes guys who have put up the numbers, but they also love a guy with extreme "upside" if you will. Anyway, I think MJ has played well - he just hasn't put up the numbers yet. A lot of that has to do with double teams like Kyle said, and I think he's still getting used to his full time role. I believe we'll see the big plays as the season progresses.

The guy is doing what he can. Both teams have really keyed in on stopping him. This is part of the reason why Morgan is getting so much pressure.

My fondest wish:

That Michael Johnson doesn't give a crap what you need to see. What an arrogant post.

I want to see him help us win, but Michale Johnson has nothing to prove to me. I know how good he is.

Dude, you haven't been paying attention. Against BC he was double teamed most of the game, and was still getting penetration enough to allow for Morgan, Walker and Richards to have sacks. He also batted down a pass when he dropped into coverage.

You've given an opinion based on an erroneous observation.

Why don't you mention this to him during the Jacket Alley walk before MSU next week. I am bringing a lawn chair and popcorn to watch.:laugher:

You guys are ridiculous. Everyone's acting like I'm slamming him. I've had classes with MJ and spoken with him before. I don't have any problems with him AT ALL.

I'm reading my original post again and I don't see any imflammatory remarks. I even ended it with positive hopeful comments. I just want to see MJ excel and justify his preseason all american talk. Nothing would make me happier than a 3 sack performance today.

*sigh* Oh well.

People took your first line to be the "inflammatory" line. You called him "overhyped" and appeared to believe that his position as a first-rounder is outlandish. This is after a game against Jacksonville State in which he played sparingly and against BC where he was constantly double-teamed and still managed to make plays.

I don't care one way or the other, I'm letting you know why they took it the way they did.

:\

I really can't share the sentiment of disappointment at all, especially two games in - one of them being Jacksonville State.

Somehow I don't think the coaches or players care what we think has been disappointing. They see the film and who is doing what. For all we know, the team considers MJ's work so far the key to the overall defensive performance. As is normally the case, fans (including me) don't know crap.

Well, yeah, but it's not really relevant whether the coaches would care or not. We're talking about us, not them. :)
