that there are very many schools out there where the AD has carte blanc to hire with some exceptions i.e. Nebraska where Osborne has been around the program for 40 years. We have a comittee to weigh the options presented by the AD. Paul Johnson was my 2nd choice, my 1st was Hatcher. If it had been Muschamp i would have been dissappointed but, i wasnt ready to change my allegiance. I still contend, it wasnt because he came from UGA, it was because he had no HC experience.

Every school has its money people that have a say. Sometimes rubber stamped sometimes not. That is the reason this goes on behind closed doors. Like the OkSt booster said, "Anyone can have a say when they give 250 million".

Well, if things went down as rumored it is unfortunate. Nobody likes getting blindsided.

But I have been to design reviews, where people who have signed off on my design individually, change their mind in the final meeting. There isn't any reason to freak out about it. You just line up their new expectations and rework your solution. And you let the board know the cost of making a change.

There might be a positive to come out of this meeting. DRad went into this thinking he had X dollars to work with. He pitched his man who matched those criteria. Now the board says no, we don't like this guy. Fine, come up with more money. I can find a better fit for X+Y dollars.
