I think I found the solution for our kickoff coverage

I say we get the lead and use this tactic the rest of the game :laugher:

Edit: I am guessing something will have to happen because the only way to stop this is decline and then you start with terrible field position. A fair catch is the best an opposing team could hope for.

Wouldn't the kicking team eventually give up so much field position that it wouldn't even be worth it? After you're kicking from your own 10 or whatever, it really doesn't matter if you are offsides or not since the receiving team would have good field position. In late game or late half situations though, like in Wisconsin's case, it's a brilliant plan.

Well every time you do it, you're kicking off from 10 yards further back, so you reach a point of diminishing returns after 2 or 3 attempts.

It's still pretty cool, though.

Here's a link to the video of the kickoffs:

The NCAA probably just needs to make a rule resetting the clock after a kicking team penalty. In fact, a lot of rules today exist because of Heisman doing very much the same thing, exploiting loopholes with his trick plays.

Well, it would work if you kicker could kick 100 yards :p

Aha! I've figured out what we need: a kicker who could kick 100 yards!

Someone hire me as ST coach. Quick.

I hope you had detected the sarcasm in my post lol.

I thought offsides was a 5 yard penalty.

On KOs too? I thought everything on KOs was 10, except OOB, which was auto-35.

the kickoff returner really took some shots. I wonder what would have happenned if he would have gotten hurt b/c of the intentional penalty.

They were not letting up. Isn't this the same thing as Ditka taking out the kicker (sending his toughest blocker) when he was Da Bear's coach.

The blockers for the receiving team have to stay w/ the ball, so that means the coverage team get to come down unblocked.

Until I saw the video I just assumed that the play was not fullout. After watching it clearly the returner could have been hurt. It definitely seems like a NO CLASS move on wisconsin's part and they were winning the game. You can bet a team will punish wisconsin in the future for this. IMO

Offsides is 5 yards and KO out-of-bounds is 30 yards from the kick.

You also have the option of 5-yards and kick again on the out-of-bounds kick.
