Of the choices for head coach, there is my guy and then a bunch of no-talent ass-clowns. Why is this process taking so long?

Seriously though, we have a pretty good selection of candidates.

RN - has won Big 12 and PAC-10 championships. He has probably the strongest I-A track record of the group. His run ins with the NCAA are troubling. But he is the only coach I can think of that sued the NCAA and won in court.

PJ - stellar I-AA track record. Solid showing at Navy. A lot of people don't want to see the triple O. He would tweak his O to fit our talent level just like Grobe did at Wake as his recruits started to come in. The biggest drawback to PJ is his price tag. I am not sure we can handle an extra 1million/yr over the next few years.

WM - Obviously a motivator. He has spent time learning from two very successful head coaches. He should have the contacts to put together a top notch staff. Hopefully, TT has taught him the importance of beating your employers rivals. His biggest drawback is that he has zero head coaching experience. There is only one way to know if he can handle the big chair.

CH - Head coach experience. He runs an exciting offense, which like PJ, he is able to tweak to his personnel. He would possible pull in more interest for Tech in south GA, at least for a year or two (more if he wins). His biggest drawback is that he doesn't have I-A experience. Does he have the contacts to put together a good staff?

JT - great defenses at Tech. I have no idea what kind of offense he will install. Typically, DC's install whatever offense works the best against THEIR defense. So I would expect to see an emphisis on the TE in his offense (quick short passes). His issue seems to be if he can work with the press. And more importantly, how is his relationship with his staff?

How do WE know the ones mentioned are not the next great coach? A keyboard and mouse does not make me an expert. I leave that to the powers that be. They know more of the behind the scenes 'stuff' than we do.

You do not speak for me. I want no part of RN in any form or fashion.

RN has been a controversial individual almost everywhere he has been. He was involved in a gambling accusation that was totally mishandled by UW and the NCAA so I will pass on this. He played an illegal player at Colorado in 1997 that cased the school to forfeit every game. Even more shameful the team only had a 5-6 record.

I have posted his HC record in college, followed by high school the followed by the pros. Certainly an unusual progression. In every case except high school his teams have gotten progressively worse under his tenure.

As a whole ex pro coaches do not make good college coaches. I know someone will quote an exception to this so go ahead. It will be the exception not the norm. Also our last coach came from the pros.

GT demands and deserves a quality and honorable coach with unquestionable integrity. I do not see RN fitting this criteria therefore he is not a viable choice.

If we cant get PJ,CH,JT, take RN

Let's not forget RN he was coach during this:

"The latest scandal appears to be the worst yet and its roots date at least to 1997, when a 17-year-old high school student accused a football player of rape after a recruiting party.

No charges were filed, but three women have since sued the school, saying it fostered an environment that led to their rapes by football players or recruits at or just after an off-campus party in 2001. "

I'll take any of them, but I'll expect Newheisel to be on an extremely short leash if he gets hired.
