I think this year\'s team is ok.
I just wanted to ramble a bit.
The past two weeks games, they left me feeling pretty depressed.
But, this morning while driving to work I got to thinking about last year's games against UVA and Wake Forest. How on earth did we lose to UVA, there was simply no reason for that. Ditto for not beating Wake Forest by more. We were a team ranked #9 preseason, and we lost to a sorry UVA team.
In comparision, I don't think that the performances this year against Clemson and BYU were any worse than those games. We came very, very close to beating Clemson at Clemson, and did beat BYU, who beat Syracuse and Hawaii (I think Hawaii is pretty good. They've only lost to BYU this year).
We beat Vandy by a hell of a lot more than SEC teams are beating them by right now.
Vandy 3, GT 45
Vandy 6, Auburn 31
Vandy 38, Ole Miss 45
We decimated a UCONN team that almost beat Boston College on the road.
I just think that things aren't as bad as they seem right now. Suggs is throwing like he's blind, but Godsey did the same in his first few games if I remember correctly. We almost lost to UCF at home when Godsey started, and had to win that one in the last 2 minutes. But ended up doing fine that year (Peach Bowl).
The fact is, I think either Clemson/BYU could beat Carolina/Wake, and we should be 5-1 in two weeks, even without Hollings. It not like his replacement will be completely inept. And I think that the O-Line had to be doing something right, they'll be there for the next guy. I think we'll also be favored against UMD, UVA, and Duke.
I think we'll drop one of those, and suprise one of UGA, FSU, or NC State to go 8-4 (probably UGA, they are overrated), but I hope we do better.
