I wasn't worried at all until Gotsis got thrown out

He's clearly our best player on the DL. Not just that, he IS our DL.

If I had to bet my life on it, if Gotsis wasn't kicked out, we win that game going away. Hunt Days or Hunt/whatever the hell his name is is a loafer and pancake gift to opposing offensive linemen. The rest are horrible too.

Gotsis is our MVP of the entire team and that's precisely why we lost today.

What a shitty way to lose a game. Having our best player kicked out of the game on a completely BS call.

Oh well, it wasn't like we were undefeated or anything.

The call was probably technically correct. But that doesn't seem like the type of hit the rule was meant to prevent. His helmet hit almost simultaneous with the chest.

I shouldn't get so angry at bullshit calls. I apologize to everyone in my section for my language. I shouldn't behave that way on family day.

The rule is s**t. Referees should not have the ability to eject a player for something so trivial. The 15 yard penalty is enough of a punishment. Maybe if a player gets two of them in a game, he's disqualified. But the way it is currently ruled is just stupid.

They put in the rule not really to prevent specific hits, but to change the way hits are delivered across football. By ejecting players on even legitimate hard hits, they really make players think before they deliver anything hard or high. They're essentially knowingly penalizing players who don't deserve to be penalized in order to change the game.

To be fair, it has worked, at least from what I can tell. The number of dangerous hits around the head seems way down in both college and the NFL compared to where it was five or ten years ago. But it really sucks to be on the wrong end of one of these calls.

It's one thing to lead with the crown when a WR is coming over the middle and is defenseless. He ran straight at the QB, sustained eye contact, then buried him in a perfect form tackle. Should he have dove low at his knees, putting the QB in substantially more danger for injury?? The answer is apparently yes.

No, that would have been a flag and an ejection as well. You're not allowed to hit the QB below the knees or above the shoulder when he's throwing from the pocket.

It's not quite touch football when it comes to QBs in the pocket...but it is close.

I think your behavior was warranted.

+1

Complete game-changer of a call. Can't believe those assclowns let the targeting and ejection call stand.

This just flat-out isn't our year. Last 3 games in a row GT has been horribly unlucky in regards to officiating.

The pussification of America is almost complete. We should just call it soccer.

I was the same way. I just will never understand how a perfect form tackle is grounds for ejection.

There is a litany of ways this game was handed to UNC via officiating. I understand some will say rise up and overcome but it was HORRIBLE.

We had our opportunities yes but we are not a team that can be consistently hosed and win a game this season. We don't have the depth to overcome the injuries and consistent kick to the nuts.

No we lost because you did not drink enough on your couch.

It was one of the worst calls I've seen in a long time. It was the definition of "trivial" but we have to live with it, as it turns out.

It was the correct call unfortunately. But the rule certainly needs to be tweaked. Textbook tackle.

Exactly correct. When he left, I knew we weren't stopping UNC on the ground the rest of the game. Freeman is the only other above average d-lineman on the entire roster, and the DT's in particular simply aren't good. Days is essentially a 5th year freshman still learning his position and Kallon is the poster child for "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane".

I actually think by this time next year the offense for Tech is going to be quite good, but with Gotsis and a good chunk of the secondary leaving, I fear the defense is going to be absolutely dreadful and you all got a preview of that today.

ACC refs completely hosed Tech on that call, which is par for the course against a NC-based team in league play.

Anyone watching on TV? I'm curious what the announcers were saying. The replay in the stadium looked like he was essentially head up, making eye contact with him the whole time, face mask to face mask. If that's against the rules, the rules need to be tweaked.

It is against the rules to make any helmet to helmet contact with a QB in the pocket.

They were saying it was a pretty clear call and it wasn't going to be overturned.
