I was just curious to see Marcus Marshall's debut and noticed he's not even the starter. The JMU starter at RB is a total beast, Cardon Johnson, who ran for 265 yards vs ECU. MM transferred to JMU to be the feature back and he finds himself behind a stud RB again, go figure. MM did have a 70 yard TD run in the game, at least.

In other news, Dedrick had 52 yards on 3 carries with a long of 51. No TD's.

The Marshall Plan didn't work out :dunno:

Maybe he'll learn his lesson and wait for the starter to get kicked off the team

Paul Johnson has had 50+ guys transfer since he's been at Tech and the only one to do anything was Vad Lee, and that was in I-AA ball. Y'all should realize by know that if Paul lets a guy go it's because he's replaceable.

Looks like Trey Klock didn't make the two-deep at Northwestern. Sounded like he had decent non-football reasons for transferring, though. Also still has another year.

I was at the game and found it interesting that I believe Marshall is better suited to be a B-back in our offense than a one-back in a spread read/option. With a hand in the ground, close to the line, Marcus got a quick start to the line with CPJ and was very effective as a runner. With Mills gone I believe he would have been at least 3rd team all ACC with a lot of yards this season. At JMU he seemed slow starting from the standing position and had several runs where he was tackled behind the line. But, the time he got free he was gone - he's got great speed. It's a shame he felt under appreciated and that CPJ stayed frustrated with his lack of execution on plays where he was not the ball carrier. Boy, East Carolina is in a terrible place. Firing their coach too soon, with most of the fan base still supporting him, is looking like a disaster. My daughter started marching in the band there twenty seasons ago and I bought season tickets for the first time then. Yesterday was their next to worst home performance in those twenty seasons - when Navy put 77 on them was the worst. They won 3 last year and it's hard to see them winning that many this year.

Jaybo Shaw is another guy who had success in I-AA, but I'm drawing a blank on any others.

Custis, Leggett, Autry, Greene, Summers, Wright, Andrews, Lands-Davis, Marshall. None of those guys played a down for a P5 team after they left Tech. Andrews had the most success of the bunch at MTSU, but he was the fourth receiver there. Custis and Lands-Davis are at DII West Georgia. Leggett and Marshall are backups at I-AA schools. Summers couldn't crack the starting lineup at Georgia Southern before getting hurt. Greene never played at Ohio State and Wright rode the pine at Incarnate Word. Anthony Autry played DII ball.

Or more like that he recruits non P5 talent guys to begin with, #amidoingthisrite?

Colin Peek - but TEs aren't allowed around here anyway.

Yeah, but don't forget JMU is the reigning FCS national champion...they could beat many FBS teams like ECU, though ECU seems like a program in disarray...

So many names in this post that I haven't thought about in years, which, I suppose, reinforces your point.

We had a backup QB transfer to Delaware State and actually get drafted by the Eagles in the 6th round. Can't remember his name for the life of me.
