I was told by 2 non-Tech fans that this was a bad idea, so I figured I would ask a bunch of actual Tech fans their opinion. This girl and I have hit it off pretty well and she's a Florida grad. We were flirting back and forth last night trashing each others team. She brought up the ugag game and I told he we were going to be the team to ruin their season, not Florida. So the bet was made. The terms of the deal haven't been set, however she wants me to go to the local UF fan club to watch the game. Is betting on ugag to beat Florida really that bad? Remember, I've lived in NC almost all my life so I can't grasp just how much you guys HATE ugag. My beef has, is, and always will be with the Tar Holes. Just wondering...
 
Bet on whoever you want. That is your own private business and no one has to know.

The way I look at it, betting on UGag is a hedge bet.

If they lose, you are happy because they lost.
If they win, you can use some of your winnings to medicate. ;)

Its ok to bet on the nadlickers but I'd let folks know on a "need to know" basis.
 
Betting on UGA would mean you would have to root for them, which is something a Tech fan should never do.
 
I can only answer this question after you post a picture of your girlfriend.

this is absolutely not true. just because you bet on something, doesnt mean that you have to root for them at all. in fact, the previous post clearly lays out how it can be looked at as a hedge bet.

anyway, i would bet on them IF i thought there was something to be won, and then i would root for them to lose anyway.

its just money, or in your case, honey
 
Take all factors of the bet into consideration, such as financial exposure, personal pride and position in the community and then base your final decision substantially along the lines suggested by WracerX.

When the day is done, her relative "hotness" factor must be the deciding aspect, easy stuff.....

Unlike many others here, I hope UGA wins every game they play in a BIG way, up until they play us. I want GT to be the one that bursts their bubble, knocks them out of the national championship, and causes all those shallow minded dawg fans to dodge us and hide when meeting in public. I'll root for the nad lickers just like one of their own, but only in order to make them hurt all the more when we beat them in Nov. The only sound I want them to hear from us is:

Personally I wouldn't do it just because I think the Gators are going to beat the snot out of the mutts...but if you don't think so then make the bet...but please please please don't cheer for the mutts...you'll nver be able to look at yourself in the mirror the same way...

That sounds like the best one so far. As for the pics, I don't have any and she doesn't have a myspace or facebook so that's a tough one.
 
Bet if you lose you have to give her a full body massage, if she wins you get one.

Oh, and to the original question, it is NOT a bad idea. I don't know who gave you the bad idea advice...

#1. ABSOLUTELY go to the watch party with her. DO NOT cheer for UGA. Cheer for UF or at the very least AGAINST UGA. Wear GT gear or orange or white.

#2. Make the bet for something that she would only agree to if she likes you. Loser buys dinner for instance for each game. You are locking in a second (technically third) date.

#3. This is key. You must be very sympathetic if UF loses. VERY sympathetic. You must understand her emotions and react properly to them. Also, if at all possible, have a distraction option available for after the game. Clubbing would be a good distraction. Anything with a lot of friends would work.
