We should be careful what we wish for.
Maybe some of these running backs can play ball. We need to drop some football schollies.
But seriously I like Pastner and I think if we can just get a couple big signings we can get it going in the right direction.
I think Pastner could turn it around, but he's got to recruit right
How freaking hard can it be to recruit one awesome player per year to Georgia Tech? The lack of talent is mind bottling.
When the time comes, I'm confident TStan will make a good hire. I'm also confident that the time won't come until the money is there to make a good hire.
That said, IIRC we have the worst record in the ACC over the last decade or so. If the next coach ends up sucking, well then it's just more of the same. Kids growing up Tech fans today barely even know Tech basketball exists.
So, you would be fine with Bruce Pearl?
Are his scandals really more embarrassing than Pastner allowing someone like Ron Bell access to the program?
True, and he's turned Auburn from a joke in basketball to a borderline top 25 team.
His motives certainly are
Pearl has no morals based on his record and Pastner has no common sense based on the Bell fiasco. I would hope we can hire someone with both traits who can also recruit and coach.
How about Kelvin Sampson at Houston?
Which he has proven he can not do.
Hunter - and i don't mean the TV show
On the one hand, he's recruiting better players to Georgia State than Pastner is to Tech. On the other hand, he's rarely ever made the tournament and his team this year has lost several games to teams with far less talent.
He may be an upgrade over what we currently have, but he'd still be in the bottom tier of ACC coaches. I'll pass.
I hear you - It is hard to make it when you have to win the the conference tourney. As far as this year, they have gone through some bad spells. If we can do better then ok.
Pastner hurt the Georgia Tech brand with the Ron Bell situation. He's dug himself a hole and unfortunately dragged the school down with him. It'll be hard to recover as no recruits want to play here. Get used to him being the coach for at least 2 more seasons after this one as the contract situation is not looking good. He'll make a lot of money. Shame. There was so much hype year one. I want to go back to that, but it's gone from bad to ugly.
Are we sure we can not release him for cause based on the Bell fiasco?
Pastner's denied everything and his accuser has vanishingly little credibility. Doesn't sound like "for cause" to me.
I’m still pulling for Pastner to right the ship. But I don’t think he will.
UGA getting the #2 player in the country out of Atlanta, a dude that Pastner seems to have barely recruited, hurts. I understand that one and dones suck, but we haven’t signed much of anybody worth a öööö.
