I have a conference this evening with Chan Gailey when the plane hits the ground.

I tell him thank you for what you have done but it is time that GT moves in a new direction.

I think I feel worse now than I did when Duke beat us a few years back. UVA is not a very good football team!!! I am not sure we win but 3 or 4 more games at the very most.

I know this probably will not happen.

I hate to be so pessimistic, but I really do not see any alternative at this point in time. I just cannot understand why we do some of the things we do.

As far as I am concerned the only thing we have left to play for is the last game of the year.
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see Chan gone but it wouldn't happen until the end of the season.
 
If Chan loses to UGA he's fired. That's not me saying it should or shouldn't happen, that's just cold, hard, fact at this point. UVA is a wretched football team, we're 0-2 in conference, hopes at an ACCCG dashed already, and we only have one goal left we can possibly achieve - to beat UGA.
 
I still have a hard time believing regardless of the outcome of the UGA game that GT will have the balls to let him go...especially after the new contract. I believe our broke AA would owe him quite some cash, right?

Wishful thinking on your behalf. We won't be rid of Gailey until he retires. He's like an inoperable tumor.

We did this with lewis and the team quit, the recuiting was horrific and it took 2 years to gain momemntum. And Gailey is no Lewis. If we win less than 8, he'll be fired but support the team until that point.

Gailey did not fumble the dumb punt nor drop the pass nor jump offsides. The special teams were basically perfect except for the fumbled punt. The de played better. We were the better team but found a way to lose. I have no idea how we'll do from here but I do know if we fire Gailey now.

the season will suck, we'll have a losing conference record, we'll lose to Ugag and we'll have a bottom 40 recruting class. do you really want Tenuta and his gimmicky defense as the interim HC?

GT should be like michigan and act with wisdom, patience, and class.
 
You cannot fire Gailey now. Firing Gailey now would be suicide. You can certainly give him a "Beat UGA or you will be released" ultimatum, in private, though.

Actually, I would expect that Drad had already told that to Chan and if he hadn't, now is certainly the time to do it.

I agree with your points thwg. I know he didnt fumble and do all the dumb things we did today, BUT he is responsible for having us ready to play. 2 weeks now IMO we have come out flat. Just the way I see it.

I agree with that. I just see us as unprepared and that is what bothers me most.

Actually our OL is the biggest weakness I see. To many people standing around watching. DANG, come off the ball and HIT somebody!!

Chan belongs in the NFL. We need a college coach.

Chan thinks he's coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

We need a TECH coach.
 
We need players who catch wide open passes on 3rd and 18.
 
If a different coach can make that happen, then we might need a different coach, but I don't know if a different coach would help or not.

Regardless, the reality is that now Chan's job is seriously on the line, whether the loss was his "fault" or not, and I don't think it was. Maybe the players need to understand that their screwups on the field are going to get Chan fired. Supposedly they're all behind him / etc. Maybe that'd be motivation to quit screwing up. I don't know whether that'd help or not, I've never played football.
 
You may be right.

The alternative is to call such good plays that you overcome your players occasionally losing focus.

I'd take either.
