Just wondering if Patrino really does end up going to AK will ATL interview Gailey or who do you think is the most likely candidate to be the next HC?

"Bobby Petrino will resign his position as coach of the Atlanta Falcons and is close to an agreement to become the new coach at the University of Arkansas, multiple sources tell ESPN.
According to sources, Petrino and his agent have been talking with the Falcons about his preference to return to the college ranks. The former Louisville coach was looking for an opportunity to break into the Southeastern Conference ranks, and Arkansas was a natural fit.

There is no deal yet between Petrino and Arkansas, but once there is, Petrino is expected to be paid around $3 million a year, sources said. "

Alaska is offering him? :wow:

ah, you beat me to it!

i never though chan was a bad pro coach, he kind of got a bum deal under jj in dallas. just like more often then not college coaches don't make it in the nfl (petrino, saban, miles, holtz, carrol, etc etc) some nfl guys just don't cut it in college. i wouldn't be upset with gailey as coach of the falcons, but i can't see it as being a good idea. falcons are struggling with attendance as it is and you bring in a guy half of atlanta hates? hmm

although, they'd pick up the uga fans that considered him chantastic....

With the way the Falcons are run . . .

. . . you can bet your sweet beepie that Chan will get a strong look.

Go Jackets!

I would not............

After this debacle, he wouldn't be a bad choice. Atlanta now needs stability and he can provide that. With the salary cap hole and the division on the team caused by the Vick legal problems the Falcons aren't going to find a quick fix head coach.Cowher and Schottenheimer should probably get the first look but Gailey wouldn't be far behind those guys.

Heh, then someone at the Falcons should have informed Arthur Blank. He was so pissed off last night he refused to return any calls. Lets not forget that Arthur said on Monday Night Football two days ago that Petrino wasn't leaving.

When all is said and done, Arthur Blank is a flat out good guy, period.

He's conducted himself well in his personal and business life and has been a picture of responsibilty and integrity.

He deserves much much better than to have been stabbed in the back by Michael Vick and Bobby Petrino.

This may be the time that the Falcons have to make a signficantly impactive move, both to re-establish the ATL fan base and put a team on the field that shows some real promise. While CG would certainly be acceptable as a short term stopgap, does anyone believe that he has the NFL HC credentials to bring the Falcons back to a credible playoff level team status?

Yes. Gailey is an NFL coach - not a college coach. His philosophy has always been based on making it to the playoffs. Unfortunately for him - and us - there are no playoffs in college football. He may never win a superbowl with his philosophy, but he would certainly keep his team in the playoffs more often than not.

Right now Miami may come calling sooner than Atlanta. Especially if they continue to 0-fer.
