...because of all of the "crappy bowls".

...then answer one question.

Why have 113 of the 119 Div 1-A schools been unable to achieve 10 consecutive years of bowl games?

For those curious:

1- Michigan- 32
2- FSU- 25
3- Florida- 16
4- VaTech- 14
5- GaTech, Georgia- 10

While we are asking questions I have one.

How many teams have more ACC wins than we do over the past 3 seasons?

Answer: One. VT. <<

The bowl streak is nice and all, but for the past 10 year period would you say we are the fifth best program or even a top 25 program?

It means something, but not what people try to paint it as meaning.

FSU's remaining schedule could end their streak if the UM loss took all the fight out of 'em.....

Duke
@ BC
@ VT
Maryland
@ UF

Currently sitting at 4-3, 1-3. Maryland in Tally might very well be the difference.

Florida State may go off the list this year, too.

I like the bowl streak. I hope we keep it going. And I do think keeping it going means something, even if it's to the Craftmatic Adjustable Bed Bowl.

Why does this keep getting brought up? And why is the bowl streak something to hang our hat on? Sure, we are only one of six teams to do it, but there is a big difference between Tech and the other five teams. While Tech has a streak of mid to lower tier bowl games for ten years, the other five teams have all gone to BCS bowls, and most of them have gone to more than one over ten years. Why should we be satisfied with quantity and not quality? I'd gladly trade the Emerald, Humanitarian, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Champs Sports bowls for just one Orange Bowl. A lot of the bowls we went to over that streak don't even exist anymore!
I'd just like to see Tech in a major bowl while I'm alive. Hell, even the best team in my lifetime (1990) went to the Citrus, not one of the big four.

We've been to three Gator Bowls, one ACCCG, and one Peach Bowl. Those are not something to sneeze at and there is no way I'd give those bowls up for one Orange Bowl.

I wouldnt' give them up for one NC either. I think it is a mistake to measure yourself on just a NC or just a BCS bowl. It's a game, meant to have fun at. Players and fans alike enjoy bowls.

Stop and smell the roses.

Michigan Is A Top Program, also, All Of These Schools Have Conference Tie Ins That Allow For Teams To Go To The Misery Bowls.

That is a good point.

Also...when you look at the playing field between the 6 finalists out of 119 programs...one would have to agree that we have far more to consider with our student-athlete than the others.

I never said that I would give up the Gator or Peach bowls. Those are fairly solid bowls, but not upper tier (reserved for BCS only). And I agree that the bowls should be fun for the players and fans. But do you really think the players wanted to be at the Emerald Bowl? The Silicon Valley Classic? They didn't, and it was obvious.

We've only been a consensus top 25 teams three times in those past 10 years and have not been a top 25 team in either poll since 2001.

The biggest plus for our bowl streak is the publicity it gets us every year. When bowl talk begins every year, talk of the streaks also begins. Our name is only one of 6 mentioned. It is a good thing.

Finishing the season ranked might be something to talk about. The Nut-Sack Bowl, the Carquest Bowl, and the Champs Scrub Bowl are nothing to brag about when you already have 4 national championships.

Too bad 113 of the 119 Div 1A teams cannot accomplish this feat that is nothing to brag about.

This might be true...but once the announcer says that, the FIRST thing running through every viewers mind is "ya, but who cares about the Emerald Bowl?"

sound familiar?

Some of you guys need a pick me up.

Or a shroom flashback to 1994.

Every team on the list has some middling years and some strong years to keep a streak like that going. The fact is that we will make a BCS bowl in the next few years and then the streak will go from impressive to extremely impressive (especially if FSU stumbles this year).

This won't happen under Gailey(BCS bowl). I think we all realize he blew that last year.
