should be...

1. keep Giff
2. have PJ convince the recruits and returning players that we aren't going to run some antiquated offense that leaves them little chance to make the nfl...fact is, recruits want a chance to play in the league...I believe PJ will adapt his O accordingly...what say you all?

Man, I hope we haven't lost Rad in all this...but that's a different topic altogether.

Why would we have lost Rad in all of this? Because of flat-out rumors that he "didn't get his man"?

I don't think that there is any reason to believe CPJ won't change his offense now. He did what he had to do at Navy and it worked. Now he will do what he has to do here and, hopefully, it will work.

I seriously doubt that we have lost D-Rad. Why in the world would he leave right after making such a big move? Even if he didn't get his first choice, he might as well stick around for a couple years to see if it works out so he can take credit for it. He is in a good position as far as his reputation goes; if we succeed, he gets credit, if we don't, he leaves and says that PJ wasn't his choice anyway.

Hey, I don't think we have, either...I'm just expressing my hope that it all was indeed much overblown...by all of us on the board, etc.

The only reason that his offense has not put that many players in the NFL to date was because he coached at GSU (small fast guys not big enough for the NFL) and Navy (slow small guys not big enough for the NFL ;))

No matter what he runs, he will pick the best setup that he thinks will bring home wins once a week!

Well, that and they don't run the option in the NFL.

True, Chop blocks are banned in the NFL I think, so no O-Linemen, not sure how many NFL guys Navy has but GSU has three that I know of..

Rob Bironas
Adrian Peterson (bears)
Kiwiki Thomas

Now that they are running the Air Raid, I dont expect much to change, cause all they can recruit are sub-par players compaired to us.

Well, players that have to fullfill a 4 year commitment to the US Navy don't appeal to the NFL.

Lol, like our previous offenses of the last 6 years? We're currently in "Come to play for Tech! We can teach you to complete 45% of your passes!" mode. The flexbone triple option is a vast improvement over that, especially for tailbacks and fullbacks. And it's not like we've recruited a blue chip QB in recent memory.

PJ needs to sign, do a quick press conference and hit the recruits hard via phone and visits. He needs to have a solid idea of his coaching staff and offensive/Defensive philosophy so he can sell it hard to the recruits before the dead period sets in. People have talked about his TO system and its effects on skill position player recruiting but it also affects linemen recruiting (more tackle types and less guard types) so he needs to get on the road and bring in beef for the trenches. With WM we would've been in great shape to pull in those common GT/AU targets (Green, Barnes, Drummond, Bell) and CH would have exited Renfree, CJax and maybe gotten us back in with Jenkins, I think PJ is the choice that most unsettles our recruits so he needs to start reeling them in fast.

But had Renfree and Little was waiting behind, we have a solid outlook for conventional drop back passers, that if we choose to run a conventional offense. This is all up in the air now, how ironic that now that we have a qb upgrade our new coach might decide to run an offense best fitted for Reggie ball.

I don't know how you cannot consider Josh Nesbitt a bluechip QB recruit. He was top 8 in the nation for his position.

Chop blocks are illegal everywhere (1 blocker hitting an already engaged defender low) - Cut blocks are allowed at both levels (lineman "diving" at unegaged defenders legs).

Denver has used the cut block scheme for years - Atlanta used it under Jim Mora, Jr. (when Alex Gibbs was the assistant to the director of Offensive Line coach)

I stand corrected, you sir are impressive

I'll research a lil more next time before I start pointing out all my "facts" :o

I think that people are vastly overestimating the impact of PJ's style on recruiting. I think that we should focus on the fact that we have a really outstanding coach coming to The Flats.

- 5 consecutive Southern Conference Titles in 5 years at GSU

- 2 consecutive National Titles at GSU

- 5 consecutive Commander-in-Chief's Cups, the longest streak in Service Academy history

- 2004 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year

- 2000, 1999, and 1998 D-IAA Coach of the Year

- 1997 Southern Conference Coach of the Year

Style, Shyle, we going to win a lot of games under PJ. I think kids will be excited about that.

Because he is not the man in charge and because he has been sold a bill of goods about having to get a finanical model for GT that worked. He's been told something for two years and now one or two big guys can write big checks and not only alleviate the "crisis" he has been solving but hire who they want regardless of who he recommends.

Drad is a leader and leaders need to lead so he is outta here IMO.

Drad ... is outta here IMO.

I'm not buying it for a second. Tech has just make its largest statement ($14 million) about its football program since stadium expansion.

So he won't be going back to the SEC, or to the Big 12, Big 10, PAC 10, Big East, etc.

Div 1A football is all about fat cats writing big checks. I would love to see how this whole thing played out. I wonder how much was DRad getting played and how much was him squeezing cash out of those same fat cats. We ended up spending 50% more than what everyone was expecting.
