College is about emotion and as we send the message that the UNC game is in the bag, we tell the players to not prepare. Argue you all you want but if we don't focus on UNC, we are going to be beaten by them the same way they beat Miami.

I see where you're coming from, I just wanted to point out that Miami was a horrible example to make, this year anyway.

You are right. UNC is a team with good receivers and a better passer than TB. They have little ground game or run defense but they can put points on the board. I don't think anything other than our "A" game wins.

The UNC game scares me and has since the beginning of the season.

The players aren't going to be looking past this game though.

Butch Davis is not happy about the NCState game at all...and he will have them focused as he did when they played Miami.

Dem, I learned a long time ago that how the Message Board "interest level" goes, so goes the emotion level of the team. Secondly, you can pretty much gauge how YJA goes to how well the team is focused coming out of the tunnel.

We just don't do well as favorites. We, including the fan base, just does not have the killer instinct.

The fans better wake up and join in.

I feel a lot better with TC ready to get people pumped... But, I'd say this is the one game that's worried me this year.. However. that being said I thought we'd crush UVA and Maryland at the start of the year

Uh, what? Message board traffic determines how the team plays? Sorry, but not buying that one little bit.

I actually agree with the previous statement. Like Chan says, "the players are not dumb. they know which games are big and which ones aren't as big". Our fans are not ALL dummies either. Personally, the team knows this game doesn't mean anything really, other than keeping ccg around. They absolutely 100% fo sho' know that next Saturday against Georgie is THE game we must win.

nc, I stand by it.

A player that is going to school and hearing nothing is being fed information that that game is just not as important. Throw in a busy schedule, calculus deep into the quarter, nagging injuries, etc. and it's easy to fall prey to preparing a little easier, etc.

Then the player shows up at YJA and like the VPI game, there is not even one deep of fans there and zero energy. It matters and of course, if it didn't matter then the whole home game screaming is a waste of time too.

Today and probably more than anywhere else, the internet is how kids gauge the excitement level.

Since we are not playing in Chapel Hill, I feel like we win this one handily, covering the spread even. Just a good enough performance to convince ourselves that we can beat UGAy.

Well --guess we know where last year's champ is leaning regarding the GT/UNC pick.

Interesting :eek5:

Well, you can stand by it, but you also can't prove it or produce anything to support it.

You're toast. UNC first, then UGA will both pound you into such submission, you will be relieving Chan of his duties by Nov. 26th.

we tell the players to not prepare.

Are we coaching now ? We don't tell the players a damn thing - our coaching staff does. We told them to win on Thursday night and we got sloshed. Give me a break, your postings here have ZERO impact on what happens on the field.

nedlands these players are students that mingle through the community like other students. The energy for big games is clearly apparent, the energy I see around here is lacking. They see it, feel it and sense it.

Chan gets attacked for handling the team like an NFL team which suggests that college programs are different. One difference, IMO, is that the NFL players are full time pros who get paid on performance. That is just not true in the college game and you can't have it both ways: one minute Chan doesn't get them motivated and emotional enough (college), the next they're expected to pros.
