Didn't it all seem too familiar? Good Lord... At least I had some preparation.

Luckily for Tech, the Super Bowl wasn't on the line, only the Life Championship. I think we'll have an exciting year, if not a great year, with some big wins.

As a side note, I noticed how Herbstreit's tone regarding our team changed from the beginning of the game to the end. Pregame, we were an afterthought. But the team, specifically Marshall and Benson, changed his tone and earned respect, and I think that's symbolic of a lot of people who watched us play.

This felt entirely different than the super bowl. The super bowl was the coaching staff shitting the bed. I am still livid over that loss.

This loss was because of a couple of turnovers and a walk on back up kicker. That shit happens in college football. I just cant get that upset over this loss even though it stings.

I see what you did there. You're right, it's not nearly as infuriating-- but it's certainly heartbreaking. And it also feels as if suddenly God is punishing me for loving football.

Suddenly? Are you new at this?

The thing you're talking about is a myth, a complete fabrication. Mentioning it should be a bannable offense, but we live in a godless world.

Funny, but sadly on the mark. In talking with friends at the game last night, after you could see the slow moving train wreck coming--gee, I've seen this move before...I was wondering if GT has won any games like that in which the stats were so lopsided against us. As best top of the head that we could come up with is Ugag '85 (Gary Lee!) and perhaps, the '90 Clemson game as GT snatching victory when the stats would suggest the other team might have been better that day.

But yeah, the Superbowl is entirely different as that debacle was 95% on the coaches. This one was incredibly fortuitous turnovers for UT and a backup kicker that wasn't very good.

The last two games I've attended:

  • Super Bowl LI
  • GT v UT
FML
This is more along the lines of what I mean when I compare them. I know the SB was a display of sheer incompetence by the coaching staff and this wasn't, but the last 2 games I've cared about have crashed and burned lol

Yep!
A couple bad angles on defense
A couple fumbles
A couple series without our QB/BB
A couple field goals with a backup kicker

IIWII. Got to give credit to Tennessee. We whipped them up and down the field, but they never gave up. In the end it was just enough for them. Got to clean things up the next two weeks so we are good to go for conference play.
