Dave Braine were to be vacated, who would be the likely candidates to fill the position?

Rome, i don't know many out there but personally i would like to see these two.

Bill Curry (short term)
Todd Stansbury (long term)

I think Bill could unite the fan base and do a great job of PR while putting in place a strong administrative staff such as Todd.

I'd vote for Bill Curry in two seconds.

Todd Stansbury up there as well.

Jimmy Robinson for pete's sake. Braine needs to go bad and we need a TECH man in place. Like yesterday. Lord forgive us. What a mess.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Todd Stansbury take the AD job at East Tenn St. U? Seems like I saw something about that in a Knoxville paper. May just be my imagination again too.
I'm thinking Bill Curry would love that job, but wouldn't it be hard for the HC to have Curry looking over his shoulder all of the time? Seems like BC would be a shoe in anyway.

As of two weeks ago he was the Associate AD at Oregon State...close to his home country of Canada.
 
rome, he was at ETSU for a few years until they shut down football do to finances i believe but other than that he got glowing reviews. He is now at OSU.

I don't think IMO that Bill would look over anyone's shoulder unless something bad was going on. Again just my opinion.
 
Correct. They also shut down sports besides football so I am sure that is why he left. I heard good reports about him. This was from the parent of an S/A that was there; the S/A had to transfer to another school when ETSU shut down his sport.
 
My scenario would be Bill=PR and Todd=Administrative. that doesn't mean Bill wouldn't be involved in Administrative duties at all but while Bill is out repairing our image at least we will have a very competent person running the ship at home.
 
Even though Bill Cuury angered me with his departure to Ala, I believe he is the absolute perfect choice as AD now.

From a PR standpoint and integrity standpoint, we could do no better than Bill. I also believe that Ga. Tech is Bill's emotional MaMa. He would love to be here.

What has gone on around here for a while now should prove that Tech must have one of its own as AD. I actually think that its more important to have a Tech man as AD versus one as HC.

Nothing would make me more optimistic and proud than a Monday press conference announcing Bill Curry as the Athletic Director. After this week, we need that kind of emotional lift going into Hatefest '05.
I would have one more thing to give thanks for on Thursday too. Let's get it done Wayne!

I dont care where he is from or what he can do or what color he is. Why dont we just want the best man ?

HerBee, I assume you are talking about Dodd wanting a Tech man as HC. If so, I agree with you and stated such in what I wrote.

Its just my opinion that a Tech guy is needed as AD. That may be because Bill Curry is a Tech Man, and I believe he is exactly right under the circumsatances. It also could be a knee jerk reaction after DB. As we have come to understand, Tech is a very frustrating place to demand athletic excellence. I think its easier to stay "focused on the top" when you can't even describe how much you love this bewildering place.
I don't see how these next years will not be the the most demanding ever for Ga. Tech. Because of this, I think its vital that our top athletic executive has unstoppable passion for Tech. I see Bill's greatest asset as his capability to restore positive public relations, certainly not his ability to match the administrative genius of Homer Rice. I trust that Bill would surround himself with great people in order to get the job done.

PW ...I like Curry and would love to have him here but at the same time he may not want to come here. He has it made at ESPN
I was talking about Dodds wanting a Tech man for HC and I still remember him turning Majors down for Fulcher
 
Well, under the present circumstances at Tech, we would find out how much he would really would want the challenge, if offered.
That goes the same for any qualified candidate. This certainly will not be an easy task.
