I\'ll be there Saturday.....
This Saturday, the sun will break out in the early morning hours. The fine folks who spent Friday night in their RV's all across campus will awake. Some will step outside to walk their dogs.
And I will be there Saturday.
The Frats and Sororities will push their contraptions to the area around O'Keefe for the Wreck parade. Laughing, pointing at each other's creation, and talking of how late they stayed up the night before.
And I will be there Saturday.
Alumni will begin to show up. Their boys wearing white jerseys, daughters in miniature cheerleading outfits. The elderly in their vests and sweaters as a cool breeze nips through the morning air.
And I will be there Saturday.
More friends begin to appear as the parking lots begin to fill. TV's tune in to Gameday, footballs get scraped on the asphault, spirits get poured into a plastic cup. Most excuse themselves to head over to Yellow Jacket Alley.
And I will be there Saturday.
People begin to walk around in search of faces they recognize and haven't talked to in a couple of weeks. Some will self-appointedly become AD, if only for a few hours, and solve all of Tech's problems with their ideas. Some will say they saw this coming back in December. While some are simply happy to be there on another Fall Saturday and will simply say "hello" and ask "how's the family?"
And I will be there Saturday.
We are all Tech fans. We are all blessed to be given these days amongst families and friends where we can come together for hours and enjoy each other's company in a beautiful city.
And I will be there Saturday.
A win, and for a few more days the world would be a better place. A loss and the world will still not end. We've seen some great times and we've certainly been through some bad. At times like this, perhaps we'd all do well to take a step back, look humbly in the mirror, and remember what it is that brings us all together.
I'll be there Saturday. Will you?
