Impact of weather on game

I'm quickly running out of things to do between now and 3:30 pm on Saturday. After going through the ND forums, reading any preview out there....I've now turned my attention to the weather.

Supposed to be thunderstorms Saturday morning in South Bend and cloudy conditions through the day. If in fact there is rain during the game, how does it impact us / does it benefit either team?

I recall the 2009 49-44 game against FSU that was played in wet conditions. Maybe even the ACCCG against Clemson? Don't think we've had much of an issue putting up points. Does it typically impact the defense more?

I think wet conditions would be good for us because their #1 weapon is their fast wideout. Turf can still get slippery.

Plus it will make breaking their knees easier.

which team?

The rain is the only thing that might have a chance of not getting shrugged off and thrown face-first into turf and shame when it tries to take hold of our ball-carrier. But probably not.

Regarding conditions, I'm trying and failing to remember any games under CPJ where we played on turf in wet conditions and whether it had any noticeable impact. Anyone?

I don't think it puts us at a disadvantage, but as a first time visitor to Notre Dame, I'm a little bummed.

No rain at the 2009 ACCCG.

Disclaimer: We started tailgating around 10 am and I don't remember the first half very clearly.

No rain during the game, but does anybody not remember the ACCCG last year? Rainy, wet, humid, foggy all day. Played pretty good I thought. Everything was wet. Nobody remembers the 15 minute smoke cloud that settled in the stadium after the opening fireworks?

Duke last year. Also the 2013 UNC game was pretty sloppy.

While true, those were played on grass. I'm wondering about wet turf. Still none coming to mind, but I don't think the impact will be anything severe.

Does UVA play on turf? I know 2009 was awhile ago, but that was a rainy one.

Edit: nope. They had to switch back to grass in the 90s because their horse couldn't handle it.

No rain, just unseasonable cold for Tampa.

Orange Bowl was the same deal, the first time I'd ever been to Miami and I had to dress in thick layers. But I do think we'd gotten a bit of rain at some point during that awful ordeal.

Wait, what about BC? We played there in 2008 in what I think may have been wet conditions. Pitt last year wasn't on turf, was it?

He's talking about the 2009 game in Tallahassee when lighting caused multiple delays. Every GT fan should remember the game. JN ripped the ball out of the f$u linebacker's hands.
