What is everyone's prediction on the current coaching staff if a new HC is brought in.
OC - Nix
DC - Tenuta
Others- not familiar enough w/ their names to list.

The one I would hate to see the most is the current recruiting staff. They've done such an awesome job in gathering up this year's class & are off to a good start for 08. Any chance they can stay in place & keep going after them?

Can someone offer some insight.

Maybe Rad will have some input on that. I don't see Nix being retained, hopefully Tenuta will stay, if he so desires. I could see some changes in RB / OL / receivers coaches.

I think we'll be okay, but don't forget Gailey's role in recruiting this year was huge. The staff did a great job of evaluating talent, staying in contact and building relationships, but Gailey was the one who consistently closed the deals.

Staff = setup men
Gailey = closer

It's tough to say who would be retained if a new HC comes in. He'd most likely want to bring in his own guys, at least for the OC/DC positions. Maybe he and Tenuta mesh well, which would be great to keep him on, and if Jimbo is the next HC, remember that he did coach Nix at Auburn, so he may lean towards retaining him as well.

I hope we don't force a new coach to retain any of the staff if he doesn't want them. We tried that with CCG/Bill O'Brien and it did not work.

Well... ...before a Chanbasher brings it up, O'Brian did have pretty good numbers in his one year as OC under Gailey.

One way or another, O'Brian is no where near the coordinator that Tenuta is. In retrospect, we were silly for wanting O'Brian to stay, but I don't think it'd be silly at all for wanting Tenuta to stay.

My question is why would he stay if there's going to be a coaching transition? He might go for a big dollar job like Texas if he's unsure of his job security anyway..

I agree that the new coach (if chan leaves) should be given full lattitude over their assistents and who and who not to retain. The Hill puts enough restrictions on what they can do and DRad shouldn't add any more.

It was just one example - and whatever the reason (their styles didn't mesh, Gailey was really the one pulling the strings, whatever), it didn't work.
