In '76 GT beat ND w/o throwing a pass!

If u are into Ga Tech history here's an extremely interesting story of an extraordinary Tech win. Who was the QB? Who was the HC? Who was the leading rusher? Who scored the TDs? It's all here:

Very interesting although I think we shouldn't try to do this next saturday :laugher:. Thanks for the post GT Ace. Does anyone run the wishbone offense anymore in Division I-A?

I think that Navy ran it not too long ago, and Air Force. Maybe we should resurrect the W-Bone this Saturday for the (almost) 30th year anniversary of our upset of Notre Dame. Lets win the time of possession battle and keep B.Q. off the field.

Spot on! Nix would do well to bring 'the bone' back into situationals ala the Fridge. The Fridgenator just tore holes in the oppositions D gameplan by throwing the bone into key downs. Love to see more of that aggressive type behavior. Smack of Dodd and the belly series. RB would be perfectly fitted for this with Choice, Grant and Cox. Just a thought.

Agree completely Gnats.
The use of the wishbone has been very good to Tech.
However, it won't happen this year. For 3 years, CG has been trying to simplify the offense for our QB.

I know nothing seems to bother Coach Nix, but even he might lose a few winks of sleep at night thinking about Reggie needing to make 3 reads on a running play. ;)

I don't recall if that was Gary's first start that year, but it was the first game we played that year running the wishbone. Up until that point, we had run the veer with Mike Jolly or Bucky Shamburger at quarterback.
