Chan has declared boldly that his passion is the NFL.
In his first impression here and then in maybe his last, Coach Gailey has put Tech recruiting at the bottom of his personal priority list, and he doesn't care one bit.
If he was meeting with his good friend Wayne H. only, I would be gullable enough to give him the benefit of the doubt. His reported upcoming interview with the Steelers leaves me with no other conclusion that he really wants to get back to the NFL. If he bombs on those two interviews, will he talk with Blank and the Cardinals too?

Personally, I hope he is offered the Dolphin job and takes it.
If for some reason he stays here, it won't be his choice.

Forgive me for my ignorance. Where has it been stated that he is interviewing with Pittsburgh?

Not mere speculation. Promise.
I don't really think any NFL team will hire Chan, but I believe with no doubt that is where he wants to be.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is that

it is coming at the worst possible time from a recruiting standpoint. If he isn't truly interested, then he is being foolish not to say that he has no desire to go to the NFL and end the speculation now.

I think he does like the NFL better personally but only from a head coach perspective. I think this is his first realistic chance to get that job and so he is hoping that it happens.

I can't blame the guy for going after what makes him happy but it sucks from the Tech standpoint no matter which scenario is right.

If this in fact is true, why did he leave the NFL to coach at GT?
If he wanted to be in the NFL,having a close personal relationship with the owner and president of the Dolphins, then Miami would have been a much better place to be than GT.
That statement just dosen't make sense to me.

There have been reports that the Steelers might be interested in Chan, but nothing to suggest that he's interested in Pitt that I've seen.

Branching out on the conspiracy theories? Now Chan doesn't care about recruiting?

Maybe he cares about recruiting, but not nearly as much as his involvement in the nfl. Home is where the heart is.

Saban = NCAA
Gailey = NFL
Not saying that Saban and Gailey can be compared in any other way!

I would not touch Saban with a 10-foot pole...all the while he was saying "I am not the Alabama coach....I will not be the Alabama coach tomorrow or next week...I will not be the Alabama coach"....he was already assembling his staff and had accepted the job with Alabama verbally. I know this for FACT.

wha????????

CG has made recruiting a priority and went out and hired Geoff Collins, Jeep Hunter, and Charles Kelly to do just that...and fired long-time friend David Wilson as recruiting coordinator and inserted Giff Smith into the role. Gailey comes in to help close deals whenever the coaches ask him to go anywhere. Yes...he admitted he underestimated the level of attention recruiting required these days....but he made the adjustment and we now have the best system for recruiting we have ever had at Georgia Tech...and I have been close to recruiting dating back to the mid-80's.

It was in the Pittsburgh paper (the Tribune-Review) yesterday. He was an assistant here, and has some ties to the Rooneys. However, it was not mentioned again in today's paper, so maybe it's not going to happen.

Obviously there is more job security in college- you get at least 5 years normally if you do a decent job at most schools- of course, everyone in the world his record overall would be a lot different without Tenuta. His personality is suited for the NFL, thats a given. Im sure D'rad is quietly crossing his fingers because the hiring of a football coach, at least initially can bring everyone together- and D'rad needs that more than ever at GT to help solve the fininacial dbacle that Braine left.

Prevent, CCG had been in the NFL for 25 years I seriously doubt that he was looking for job security at GT a Div 1A school that has never had a reputation for bieng an easy place to recruit for or win consistently.
