Ineligible Downfield

Doesn't seem like this would matter much for our offense. We usually attempt to pass block on passing plays, not so much run-pass option. Though I know we've gotten called for ineligible man downfield a few times.

Defensively, it'd help, and our D needs all the help it can get.

We actually ran a bunch of RPO stuff in the spring game that did use run blocking. I don't recall us doing that a whole lot in season under CPJ, so if my memory is accurate then perhaps not so big a deal. I suspect we are going to see it some this season though.

In general, I prefer to see college football look and feel and run differently than NFL football. It's a bit like the CFL. Being different gives it a different flavor and keeps it alive.

The one and only time Kirby makes sense and I agree. CFB needs to decide if it is there to make NFL players first, before making rules changes.

Seems to me that with all of the heat on amateurism in the NCAA orbit, they'd want to keep CFB from looking like an NFL feeder system as much as possible.

The NCAA did a much better job of enforcing the Illegal man down field last year than in previous year. In the NFL it is 1 yard vs the NCAA being 3 yards.

Once they start enforcing it at three yards vs. the seven teams usually get away with, I'll give it some thought.

So here's the question. Does going to 1 yard hurt the spread teams that we face more than it hurts us?

Sounds even worse when you say it is 3 feet. Basically, it means you HAVE to pass block on any pass play. A option pass almost guarantees an OL has stumbled forward 3 feet. Stupid NFL rule.
