Found this article linked on the Hive, but I thought I would put it here as well.

Great article - thanks for the link. And for all the star-mongers out there, here is a quote to remember from the article, written by a guy who makes his living from recruiting news and rankings:

"Coaching and development are a bigger aspect of winning than recruiting rankings."

A book could be written about the immediate turnaround in recruiting. For all of us that hung onto lack of curriculum, etc, it would be a fascinating read. ;)

One of the factors to which I've attributed a large part of our success has been the early preparation in not only finding athletes who are smart enough to get in and stay at GT but athletes who are going to be receptive to hearing our curriculum as a POSITIVE rather than a negative.

In other words, get your lead generation process right so that it produces prospects who will see your marketing message in a positive light.

From the article:
That's the party in recruiting, and and for the most part, it's something that Tech fans have missed out on the past four years.
I'll agree with that. I have wanted to be excited about recruiting in the past, but just couldn't see much to be excited about. This year, it's been so much fun. It has added a whole new dimension to the football "season" for me, and I really look forward to this part again next year.

Great article, btw. You can tell this guy knows his stuff and actually THOUGHT about this topic, unlike a lot of the other regurgitated crap out there that you read.

Yes, you're right, mm42. But let's not forget what else he said: you have to have the talent to compete, too. We've seen that we can develop players ranked with 3 stars and fewer; now, ain't it going to be fun to watch all the 4 and 5-stars develop? Good times are ahead!
