Superpreps recruting rankings and top 25 finishes in the AP poll. Despite what many say, I think it is obvious that the rankings do matter but it is also obvious that there are other factors involved. Another observations is that uga and GT haven't been that far apart in the 90's in both recruiting or AP finishes (head to head is another story). uga has done well in recruiting but certaintly not the 'top 5 recruiting class every year' that many GT and uga fans seem to think. Conversely GT hasn't been playing with all leftovers and diamonds in the ruff type players.

ap vs. superprep .

interesting to see, but I would rather see a correlation run between the average recruiting rank of a teams classes and how the team ended up rankwise.

For example, Ga Tech's 2000 team consists of players recruited in 1995-1999 as their senior HS seasons. Take the average recruiting ranking for those years and plot it against the actual team ranking and then it would mean something.

Anybody got this type of data?

Indisputable correlation. Anyone reading this cannot say that Superpreps average recruiting rankings does not parallel AP average rankings over a period of time.
Almost every single Superpreps top10 is in the AP top10 somewhere. Almost every single Superpreps top20 is in the AP top20 somewhere. Almost every single Superpreps top25 is in the AP top25 somewhere.
When reading Superpreps recruiting rankings for last yr & this yr we better pay closer attention to where our class very well could be headed over the next 3-4 yrs.
