QB's going non-contact

Seems like Coach N at Navy and PJ are already starting to diverge in styles. Navy is going to a non-contact jersey for Dobbs at QB.
As many of you know, PJ lets our QBs get hit...Just ask Jaybo:D

I honestly think this helps the QB's get ready to run the option, but moreso, it leads the team to respect the QB who is getting knocked around just like they are.

So what do you guys think? Contact or no contact?
 
I think they need the contact considering the roughness our QBs will feel. Maybe it'll encourage Jaybo to get bigger as well.
 
I think best case scenario you have your QB's going through full contact. But if you have only one QB that can effectively run the O, you may have to make that decision. I say this knowing nothing as to Navy's depth at QB.
 
I actually believe that CPJ should reduce the contact on our QBs, but it's not quite time. We just have to cross our fingers that guys don't get hurt or dinged up too much.
 
Contact is good as long as your defense has enough sense not to take cheap shots/late hits on their own teammate... less of an issue now that we don't have the O vs D issues of the past it seems.

The human body can adjust to a lot, and the more it experiences it (within reason of course) the better it becomes adapted to it. Just playing HS football, I remember the difference between starting play, body being bruised and beat up, and a few weeks in your body adjusted, your muscles learned how to prepare/respond to impact, etc.

There are of course risks, but I think, and it seems coach feels the same way, that the rewards are much better than the potential drawbacks.
 
There's a difference between contact and finishing the tackle. Nothing wrong with a good hit but then the defensive player should then let up.
 
At the last Scrimmage last Saturday, for the 1st half, Nesbitt was being tackled. for the last half of the scrimmage, when a defender got him close or wrapped up, they blew the whistle. So, they're not going balls out on nesbitt.
 
With all the ball movement in the option, I think they need to get hit in practice to learn to maintain control of the ball. You are probably trading injuries for turnovers by protecting them in practice.
