In ACC play, VT averages 3.00 offensive TDs per game and just over 4.25 big plays (20+ yd gains) per game.

In ACC play, GT averages 1.60 offensive TDs and 2 big plays (20+ yd gains) per game.

The most interesting thing that I found about VT's stats is that almost half of their offensive yardage in ACC play has been gained on 1st down. 7 of their 12 TDs have been scored on 1st down and 5 of those 7 TDs have been from gains of 20+ yards.

More later.....

VT has allowed 13 sacks or 3.25 per game in ACC play. GT is ranked 1st in the ACC and 4th nationally in sacks at 3.63 per game. I think whoever starts at QB for VT is going spend a significant amount of time on their back.

We need to watch out for the end around to Royal #4. VT likes to run this play a couple of times a game and they have been very successful with it.

GT has averaged 7 more 1st downs per game (18.8 vs 11.8 for VT) and over 40 more yards per game (350 vs 307 for VT) in ACC play, but VT has scored 1.4 more TDs per game than GT (3.0 vs 1.6 for GT) in these games. VT seems to get the majority of their yardage and TDs on a small number of big plays versus our offense that seems to move station to station down the field, but gets bogged down before making it to the endzone.

If we can put up points against VT's stout defense and avoid the big plays, we can win this game.
