Intersting read from SI

SI stopped being an interesting read long ago

I gave up on SI when they had a fawning cover story on Ray Lewis. Years after the Buckhead incident for which he really never has divulged much, if anything.
So SI has pretty much been dead to me since.

I’m not defending SI or anything, but they have become a blogging platform for anyone that wants to write about a specific team. Which basically amounts to these people reading the online stuff and regurgitating it. No offense to @GTFLETCH and the like, but the content is just worthless. And the bloggers are far from professional and have the same access to teams that the rest of us have. Maybe less.

While I agree for the most part, especially on SI's online platform, I was referring to the magazine itself.
But to your point, yeah, pretty much. Basement knights of the keyboard, to borrow a phrase from Ted Williams.

And the SI subscription magazine has gone to crap since they went from a weekly to a monthly a couple years ago - I think the few competent writers all bailed to online publications/freelance. I had three years left of weekly and they gave me a lousy 4 years of monthly when I complained. And the swimsuit issue isn’t even included anymore. I spend about 15 minutes paging through it, then donate to the local senior center.

One of their best writers went to drive for FedEx after he got laid off

So similar in nature to ST, just more well known.
