To see the interview just go to http://ramblinwreck.cstv.com/
and click on Videos about 1/4 the way down the page between "headlines" and "live events". He gave a good interview and is an impressive coach imo.

The most interesting thing he said was that the most important thing a B-back must be able to do is run. That means speed. He said they want someone who can take it to the house when they have a crease. He also referred to the B-back as equivalent to the I-back (tailback) in a traditional offense. To me, this points a big blinking gold arrow at Dwyer as the primary B-back, rather than a Q.Kelly or T.Bray big bruiser type FB like Navy had mostly. Dwyer is prototypical for this position - big and strong with a ton of speed. We're lucky he's already on campus and has been in the game and program for a year. This is exciting.

Oh yeah, I have no doubt about that. Roddy is prototypical for PJ's Offense too, and gives me more goosebumps thinking about it. Dwyer will be the B-back and Roddy will be one of the A-backs (slotbacks). Those guys will be electric! You couldn't handpick recruits any better for this. Who will be the other A-back? I feel pretty confident in Jamal Evans being the other one next year. Of course you have to find depth somewhere too, either in freshmen or one of our walk-on RB's or a receiver/hybrid.

Another good thing about it is these backs' multiple abilities can be utilized in multiple ways. For example, the B-back can be the pitch man on the speed option and the SB can run a sweep, counter reverse, and catch passes. There's probably a counter trap play for him in there somewhere too.

I'll be very surprised if we don't see a LOT of Marcus Wright at that BEE-back position next fall.

By the way, we DO need to make it a habit to add those 2 Es after the B when describing the fullback position....make it uniquely OUR OWN.

Don't you think Marcus is more suited (perfectly) for the A-back (slotback) rather than BEE-back. Since he's the smaller scatback who can fly, I don't see him as the BEE-B (fullback/I-back). I see him in the slot, who will be the pitch man to use his speed and elusivness in space.

Anyone else think Rashuan Grant would have made a great slotback in this offense? Anyway, I'm really excited about the backs we have now and how much we'll be running the ball.

Right on, 59! My bad!

I high-lighted the "slotbacks", and then typed the WRONG word.

Yeah, I do wonder how Rashaun would've done at the slotback. I think it would've suited him perfectly and utilized his skills much better than anything our previous offense could offer. One intriguing question is where would Choice (or a back like him) have fit if he were here one more year. I would guess Bee-B.

LJ, no problem, I think we're all gonna be using varying forms of terminology for this offense for a few years.

Or Reggie Ball for that matter. I e-mailed Chan early on about running the veer/option and he just kind of huffed it off. Reggie was the guy we're looking for now.

Exactly! Gailey ran him on many of the same plays that PJ and Tashard ran, which was the personna of stupidity! Kept him banged up. With this offense coming in, he would have had a much better cahnce of avoiding direct hits and could possibly have been a super star, though we will never know for sure.
Gailey was too stubborn and single minded to be sucessful at Georgia Tech to satisfy the alumni, though he is a great person I believe. Better off in the pros, and he knows it.

Agree and disagree.
Pros
Tough
Competitor
Goes 100% on every play
Quick

Cons
Fast
Heady, even when fired up

Neutral
Ballhandler

Nesbitt is a much better athlete than Ball IMHO. He obviously needs to get better hands quick, as that will be key to all of this. The jury is out on if he has the rest of the package, but as far as the physical side, he is very close to perfect.
