Is BOB smart enough to make "in-game" adjustments?

I have my doubts. He seems to be unable to put the players on offense in positions to make plays. Those last plays were bushleague coaching at its worst. I hope someone steps forward and takes credit for that fiasco. I want to know if its BOB or CG. Im tired of not knowing who our offensively weak coach is.

Before you boo maggots step up and start yelling for a qb change, the interception was not Suggs fault and the fumble sure has hell wasn't either. The coaches have 12 days to prevent our worst ass-whipping ever on Thursday Night Football and right now I wonder if they are up to the challenge. It was WF for godsake. Are you telling me they got the same talent we do? What does their coaching staff salary look like?

The sky may not be falling, but its cracked and the freaking paint is peeling.

BOB must go.

I don't think Billy knows how to game plan. Most of the "adjustments" that you see should already be the game plan. A successful offense stays two steps ahead of the defense. The whole plan is to use play calling to "trick" the D into a formation that is most favorable to your strengths. During the first drive on Saturday we mixed up the plays very well and managed a mismatch in coverage and got a TD pass. Now I don't think everything has to be completely scripted but the coach should have a good idea at what he will do if given the different looks. I see us dong the same thing regardless of looks and success.
I think someone else needs to be the quarter back coach. It is very difficult for someone who has not played QB to teach it to someone else. The best QB coaches and Head coaches are former quarterbacks. It is very difficult to understand how your QB is thinking if you have not been there yourself. I don't think BOB knows how to convey what needs to be done because he has never done it himself.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I wholeheartedly agree, now that we've seen the results. Godsey was as good as they come, and didn't need BOB as much. He was good by himself. It doesn't apear AJ is.

Here's my question:
Why is our RB coach of the past 3 years(pre-2001) coaching QB's, while the former standout QB and former QB coach(Nix) coaches the RB's? I know there's gotta be a good reason, but there doesn't appear to one on the surface.

In a word, yes.

We have 2 losses. In both games we were moving the ball with a chance to win (in Wake's case, we had 2 chances).

In the Clemson game, we threw an interception deep in their territory. I'm not pointing any fingers but some possible reasons for the INT:
a) a terrible pass
b) not enough effort by Watkins
C) Watkins held by DB
Whatever the case BO'B is not responsible for a, b, or c.

In the Wake game, we fumbled the snap on one drive in their territory and had a costly illegal forward pass (5yds + loss of down) on the second 4th Q drive in their territory. Again, I don't think BO'B is responsible for the fumbled snap or the penalty (unless he has eligibility that I wasn't aware of and suited up when I wasn't looking).

Giving up on the coaching staff 6 games into the season doesn't do anyone any good, especially the players.

Go Jackets!

If (for the sake of arguement) Suggs threw into triple coverage at Clemson and was intercepted because
a. he didn't know how to read the defense
b. he doesn't know how to look off the safetys
c. he didn't progress through his reads to the open receiver
then it is at least partially O'Brien's fault.

It reminds me of the Fluids Professor that accused a whole class of not studying/being idiots when we averaged around 30 (on a test with 36 true false questions so 18 was really a zero unless you guessed bad). We performed poorly because he taught us absolutely nothing and didn't even give us a clue on what we needed to teach ourselves (Noe: there was no word available).

The $21,000 question is; Is it the QB play or the playcalling that is failing this offense?

BOB is ultimately responsible for both.

I don't think so but he SURE can't get a QB trained and ready.Look what he has produced in a Spring, summer and 6 games.
