I believe, based upon my knowledge of his condition and medications, that his recovery
will take the majority of this season.....

I can't understand why he won't be redshirted (if its too late, then my question remains, it just becomes irrelevant

, or wouldn't have been redshirted earlier....Its obvious that he is struggling physically....

Agreed...he probably should take a medical; get his degree and play next year.

I could be mistaken, but I think in a 12 game season you can still take a medical redshirt after 3 games. Although, I don't think they are really even considering it. He sounds like he really wants to play. Maybe he will be back to full strength by the end of the season.

I think Gathers has more than earned the right to make the decision for himself. At one point this summer, he thought he would never play football again. He's now taking full advantage of the ability to play.

I know if I had the thing I loved the most taken away (if for only a minute) - I would appreciate it 100% more when I got it back.

IMO, it's up to Gailey. If he thinks Gathers helps the team by being on the field, he should play. From the AJC article, it didn't sound like Gailey thought Gathers was helping.

Honestly, I just want him to get better. Screw the football stuff. Get healthy.

Gailey said on the call in show that Greg could be redshirted but if he played against BYU he could not. He went on to say that he had talked to Greg about redshirting and that Greg didn't want to RS. So I guess we will have to adjust our expectations even more.

I can understand his plight. He would love to have a good season and get drafted highly. However, if he is subpar physically, he may hurt his chances this year by having a bad year.

What would it hurt to give his body another year to recuperate and come back strong next year?
