Is P.J. going to be the coach killer ?

It is funny, in talking to some ugagers and I mean avid Ugag fans, they agree with me, that P.J. will ultimately run Richt out of town after 3 or 4 in a row over him. They agree, Ugag will be losing Stafford and moreno and GT has everyone back for the next 2 years and P.J. will be loading up with his type players and Richt is in trouble, Martinez will be gone after next year with similiar results he had this year, which is very likely. Richt with supposedly his best team this year (Pre-season no. 1 ) and P.J. with probably his weakest team this year and we still get the win.
You go to the LSU boards and they think we will hang 50 on them and they already are ready to hang their DC, this could be the final nail in his coffin if it happens. Also the heat will become even hotter for Miles.

I'm just saying, that P.J. could be a big coach killer over the next few years, the stunned look on that Miami DC in the booth on national TV was priceless, that guy is a very reputable DC also. School's and alumni, AD's are becoming more and more impatient with coach's like Auburn and UT, so a few back to back losses in back to back seasons and coach's are dropping like flys!! P.J. could play a big role in ending coach's careers in the next few seasons. This offense will be giving coach's nightmares and keeping a lot of coaches awake at night thinking about how in the world they can stop it !! Ole Ralph up at Maryland had it right "It is a pain in the rear" speaking of P.J.'s offense.

What happens after PJ posts back to back to back 10-2 seasons? Do we call it the PJ equilibrium? This is what I'm most scared of: running PJ out of town after a 6-6 season following a string of 10-2 years.

Miles is one year from an MNC. Maybe he is a coach with balls instead of brains, but they'll give him more than one more chance with a new DC.

I am still high off the UGA win, but it will take more than 1 6-6 season for me to want to run CPJ out of town. He has already restored so much dignity to our program, that he would have to have a few years of average play (defined as 6-6 with losses to UGAg) for me to start calling for his job. I trust CPJ, and believe in him. I also do not see another coach out there who we could get to replace him that would do a better job at our school. I guess my man-crush is showing.

We will never run him our of town after one or two 6-6 seasons because we stuck with Gailey for quite a while and our boosters aren't as paranoid as Auburn's and other schools who fired their coaches pretty early.

Paul Johnson has already earned more wiggle room than Chan Gailey had, and that man had 6 years with one decent year minus anything of note that CPJ has already achieved.

If we ever have a 6-6 season under CPJ, I think everyone will probably see it coming in the preseason either from youth or injuries or whatever else. He doesn't seem like the sort of coach to have a team go down the tubes just out of nowhere.

Whooaa there pardner! Major case of over projecting. Let's all bee damned happy and proud, but not get carried away. Remember how young and promising the program was after we trashed Nebraska in Orlando? Seven year "Drought I" then set in. Waaay too many variables here gang.

Let's just enjoy the beejeezus out of the next 359 days, huh?

But I heard that in 2015 Coach Johnson will be looking to become the new head coach at Oklahoma!:eek:

Totally different now than in 1990 under Bobby Ross. Ross was a 5 and done coach, it was written all over him, never had a love for GT. EVERYWHERE Ross coached he was there 5 years and gone. I will never forget meeting a Maryland fan on a plane in 1990 and him telling me Ross would be at GT for 5 years and gone, that was his MO everywhere he had been.

Plus, we had no where near the talent we have now, thanks in part to that 2007 Class Gailey signed. Talent returning for 2009 is far better than in 1991 the year after our MNC. Our recruiting now is far better than in late 1980's and early 1990's.

He already killed Tommy Bowden, before he even played him.

"Given the choice between beating Tech to save his job and resigning, Bowden chose to resign."

Jacket:

I have upheld your honor through your words faithfully, sir.

See sig below

:laugher: I always get a chuckle when you post because of that since re-reading it reminds me of how hilarious I thought the idea of what Bowden did was.

+1 Attribute this to overall approach and mentality. CPJ does not have an "oh well, you win some, you lose some" attitude. It's a world of difference. Even if we have an off year, I expect our players will be playing 60 minutes a game.

We saw it coming this year, didn't we? With our youth and unfamiliarity with a new playbook, a lesser coach would have given us a 6-6 season... or 4-8 even.

I thought about that especially when I said "youth" but I really didn't want to type out two more paragraphs. :P

Even though it was a rough spot to come into and coach a team to be 9-3, I don't doubt that we'll have another such year and we may have a couple of those tossup games go the other way.

I guess the overall point is what you said: We want to win championships, we expect to compete for sixty minutes every week.

PJ is a proven winner. I doubt we will ever have 6-6 season. Just look at his resume.

I hate to say this, but I can see us having a 6-6 season very easily. Quarterback #1 and Quarterback #2 get injured, and you're left with someone like Quarterback #3. I won't say #1 and #2's names, for fear of jinx, but Quarterback #3 this season was Calvin Booker, who performed admirably against Gardner-Webb, but still. If he had been pressed into service against anyone else, we would have been in some trouble.

That's why we are taking 3 QBs this year, and have a new #3 in the bank.
